Amazing what documents you can find when you're the only one there and no one patted you down before you went in...

Or if the helpful American Forces rep, on the lookout for the continued safety of reporters (he had a second cousin who was a reporter, and he has always though reporters swell guys) would like to provide a jeep and driver for the day, but needs to know your agenda and what buildings you'll be visiting and when, and, golly, let's get together for some beers later.

Thanks Walter:

I got a couple of things correct: LOL----My concern is---where did the anthrax come from?

I may be older than you, CI. But I was a skeptic as a baby. My mother told me that my first real word was NO, confirmed by my older sister.

I should add that the only person who does an excellent and thorough con job on me is me.

I'm just thinking, the anthrax might come from the same source as the previous cases in the USA: ... .

George Galloway is in (was in?) Portugal because he has a holiday home there, and Parliament was not sitting for Easter. Its debatable whether he is a traitor or not. He did encourage troops not to obey illegal orders, but as our Attorney General deemed the war to be legal (what a surprise) Galloway could get 2 years imprisonment. He is currently suing the daily Telegraph over allegations that he took money from Saddam Hussein. Treason was the only offence left on the statute book for which the punishment was death. Fortunately for him the Labour government tidied up some legal loose ends in 1998 and life imprisonment is now the maximum punishment.

He is no hero of mine. He is a typical firebrand man of the people who has decided the people are best served by his own personal betterment.

It seems the US is currently spanking and rewarding according to the Iraq stance. No contract for Chile. Australia visit planned. Canada not welcome. Troops out of Saudi. What exsquisite punishment is being dreampt up for France and Germany? And apart from a pat on the head and a medal for Tony Blair, where's our reward?

Further to the interesting spat between gorgeous George and the Telegraph...from the Indy

Will Saddam be a witness?
As George Galloway and The Daily Telegraph head for the libel courts, Robert Verkaik explains how their lawyers will prepare for the case and what they will each need to prove in order to win.

Did Blair expect a reward? That would belittle his efforts----he did it because ---"It was the right thing to do"

Re Galloway: The motives of Galloway are parallel to those of France, Russia and Germany. The only difference is Galloway can go to jail.

As far as I remember the reports in the US-media, anthrax was produced either -FBI theory- by renegade scientists or -others think, this is more probable- by a national military program.

Certainly it come from Iraq as well:
Quote:
An investigation of US corporate sales to Iraq, headed by Republican Congressman Donald Riegle and published in May 1994, listed some of the biological agents exported by US corporations with George Bush's approval as head of the CIA and later as vice-president under Ronald Reagan. The Iraqis are reported to have acquired stocks of anthrax, brucellosis, gas gangrene, E. coli and salmonella bacteria from US companies. www.janes.com

re the discussion about neoconservatism (three days ago):

'The Chronicle of Higher Education' publishes in its latest (May 2, 2003) issue an interesting article by Robert J. Lieber:

I like especially this sentence:
... Cheney, Rumsfeld, Powell, and Rice are among the most experienced, tough-minded, and strong-willed foreign-policy makers in at least a generation ...

I can hardly believe it but it is true, American troops have fired on a demonstrating crowd in Falluja, killing at least 13 and wounding many more. Is this the way to win over hearts and minds by separating body and soul? Apparantly someone threw a stone. Well he won't do that again.

This of course hardly makes the news in the US. Just what is it about Americans and lethal weapons that makes the combination so unsuitable?

I'm flattered Vladimir Putin pays attention to my posts, but he has just asked Tony Blair where is Saddam and where are his weapons? And a little touch sardonic Russian humour.. "Perhaps he is sitting in a bunker somewhere on a case of weapons preparing to kill hundreds of thousands of people".

Thanks Volody.

We need a link, Steve - this is too volatile to not be supported by one. I'm searching...
