McGentrix (from the heart of the Adirondacks)

You are kind of like an after dinner Shelley Berman act, but way funnier.

What have you done for your country?

I enlisted in the Regular Army of the United States in 1970, and served until 1973, at which time i was separated from service in the normal course of events, receiving my honorable discharge in 1976 (under the terms of Public Law 186).

What have you done for your country? Not your father, brother, uncle, whatever . . . what have you done?

McG: The point is, Bush not only evaded Vietnam, he went AWOL from the National Guard AND THEN had the records scrubbed and lied to his supporters. So my question is, if you're so dad-gummed loyal to your country, why do you support him?

The same reason I supported Clinton...HE'S THE PRESIDENT. Whether I like it or not, he represents our entire country to the world and I feel that he needs the support of the citizenry. It doesn't look good to the rest of the world to have such derision (sp?) over the leader of our country. Many of you HATE the man and take everything that he does personally. I don't understand that. He is a temp worker at a job that will last no longer than 8 years. He doesn't make any decision on his own, that's why he has a cabinet, yet all the blame lays on his shoulders alone. That burden must get heavy at times and I feel its my duty as an American to support our leader. Hell, I didn't even vote for him, I voted for Nader, but he is the one in office, therefore he gets my support.

That said, McG hums the refrain of "Stand by your man" and goes back to watching the soaps. SO CUTE!

It amazes me that 9 out of 10 of your posts have nothing to say. Just a snide, personal attack and always off topic. Perhaps you could start adding to the conversation as I have seen you do in that 10th message instead of extending the perception I have of you as being a bitter liberal with nothing to say.

ci

That's a weather report from the sixties. It's a bit more temperate here these days. But now and again, the wind will pick up out of the south and loft me at least to the second story windows where secretaries and dental assistants are dressing for work.

Be careful of 9/11, Scrat. Some REALLY embarrassing stuff may be about to turn up there...

I have no doubt that Dems will twist and spin whatever information comes out to their political advantage. I am equally as sure that this effort will be seen for what it is by most Americans and the backlash will be fierce and devastating to any minimal chance the Dems have in 2004.
