He's 92 and has had bouts with heart problems.

Well he's out now. Apparently just a cold. I will spare everybody my opinions of the man. Boy, he's really getting up there in years. He probably won't reach 100 if he's having health problems now.

Without Gerald R. Ford, no one would have ever heard of Chevy Chase.

Maybe that would have been a good thing.

Just because someone was or is president doesn't mean they deserve respect. That's old fashond. People earn their respect today. It's not owed, I don't care who you are, a parent, a teacher, a police officer, a president.

roverroad, What you said is obvious, but there are people out there that think Ford wasn't too bad a pres. It's for their sake that I created this thread.

I thought my comments about Ford made that clear.

Ford was the best darn President we never elected. Hope whatever is ailing him isn't going to turn into something more serious. He has had a number of health scares in the past few years.

Funny... Well, lets see, his first task when he became president was to Pardon Nixon. What did he do that was great?

The guy is 92 years old. That's a darn good age. Everybody has to die sometime. The fact that he lived that long shows that he feels no guilt over his presidency.

Don't get so emotional over the guy because if you think about it, you really don't care that much.

Why should he feel guilt over pardoning Nixon? Clearly Ford knew that it was best to do this so the nation could move forward. Additionally it is obvious that President Ford had within him the ability to forgive Nixon as a human being with who had made a mistake here or there.

Who said I cared that much about President Ford? He was our President for a time, and he didn't do anything to particularly harm the nation so why would I be holding within me the amount of rancor which you seem to have in yourself?

Pardoning Nixon was a no brainer. Nixon was the only guy we've had in the last 40 years who really, really, wanted to be president.

Think about it.

The other two that come to mind, Kennedy and Clinton, really wanted to be pornographers.

Actually, A pornographer is a respectable job. Think of all of the fights and conflicts that have been prevented because angry men were sexually gratified. It's no joke. Some of out most violent leaders were repressed sexually.
