Well then you aren't a true follower of the bible, and therefore not a true Christian, so why get upset about the jokes?
Oh brother. Jesus did not teach the Christianity at all cost method of teaching.
The bible does though. Do you believe in the bible?
That's not what my Bible says. What one are you reading?
The one with this little tidbit in it.
If your brother, the son of your father or of your mother, or your son or daughter, or the spouse whom you embrace, or your most intimate friend, tries to secretly seduce you, saying, "Let us go and serve other gods," unknown to you or your ancestors before you, gods of the peoples surrounding you, whether near you or far away, anywhere throughout the world, you must not consent, you must not listen to him; you must show him no pity, you must not spare him or conceal his guilt. No, you must kill him, your hand must strike the first blow in putting him to death and the hands of the rest of the people following. You must stone him to death, since he has tried to divert you from Yahweh your God. . . .(Deuteronomy 13:7-11)
And in the beginning of that book, God says "Whatever I am now commanding you, you must keep and observe, adding nothing to it, taking nothing away. (Deuteronomy 13:1?-)
It seems pretty clear to me what you must do. Now if your brother came up and told you he wanted to go worship some false god, would you kill him?
If not, then you're a fraud.
The teachings of Christ are in the New Testament, Kickycan. The New Testament is the new covenant with Christ.
Oh, I forgot. Yeah, that other book is for those hellbound jews. Now I remember.
Kicky - I don't think any Christians said Jews were hellbound - you did. I don't think Jesus said Jews were going to hell either.
Glad you brought that up, Husker.
Wait, don't they believe in the wrong magic book? Ignorance is no excuse, says my crazy Christian ma, and therefore, they must be going to hell. I guess it's possible that maybe they go to some other unheavenly place though. Like Detroit.
Ow !!!
Who threw that rock ? You coulda killed somebody.
<rubs head gingerly>
I think Kicky is being pretty rough on the Jews.
I love the jews, actually. Big Seinfeld fan here. Love the guy.
Well, it's time to pop the ballon.
Tell me Momma ... Abortion, Yes or No.
If it is NO, do you want it made against the law to have one. Also if it is No ... Why???

Steve,
There have been several threads started on that topic. No need to drag this one down that road.
As I recall, there still seems to be some disagreement on the issue.
Stevepax,
Since this is Partyjohn's thread, I don't want to highjack it, ok. I would be happy to discuss these things with you. There is an abortion thread already going and my position is clearly stated there.
Does this thread have an actual road??
I was just trying to show Momma is of the Christian right, and would love to see Roe versus Wade overturned because of her Christian beliefs! Christian Law, over all the land.
Oh, so if I don't believe in abortion that automatically makes me one of the Christian right?
If you were to follow one Christian law, does that make you Christian? If you follow one Muslim law does that make you a Muslim, etc?
Does agreeing with one thing the Christian Right believes makes me one of the Christian Right?

The loathing of abortion is not just by Christians.
As you said Momma, we will not hijack this thread.
The simple truth is that I can march through a list of Christian rightwing agenda, and you will back most, if not all of it. It's a sad truth ... the Christians want and are in an intense fight to make the U.S. a Christian Theocracy.
