Lady Lash,

I can't imagine I would have anything to do with so many threads!

I have learned how to deal with those issues I posed in the original post here on this thread! Very Happy

And, I must say, I am quite enjoying myself. Yesterday, I just lost all my anger and decided to meet everything and everyone with joy and smiles (Smileys, that is!) Idea

For those interested, PBS is airing the second part of a 4 hour special entitled: The question of God: C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud with Dr. Armand Nicholi.

I viewed the first part last night and it was quite interesting. It weaves a round table discussion of the subject around the life experiences of the former historical figures and the evolution of their thoughts on the existence of God. The problem seemed that the two sides were talking past each other. Those on the strict analytical side held their own but so did those that believed in a higher authority but they tended to slip into discussions of spirituality and subjective feelings when pressed by the other side. Alternatively those in favor of analytical and critical thinking came across as somewhat intolerant and impatient some times. Given the different agendas of the two sides I am not sure if any other outcome could be expected. The spirituals were full of wonder about the universe and its workings but the scientific guys seemed to be past wonder and more curious as to how things worked. Good show, and quite balanced.

It is an interesting topic, particularly for me, due to the dialogue re C.S. and the recent release of the Narnia Chronicles. I overheard a professor and a secretary discussing the different receptions to Lewis's Narnia and the Harry Potter series, by the Christian community.

I'll look around to see if there is another opportunity to watch the special. Thanks, JM.

Yeah, C.S. 's conversion to aetheism then back to spirituality (but not necessarily to Christianity) was interesting. Both men, through their analytical thinking, reached strickingly different conclusions.

JM

P.S. The PBS show airs tonight right about now, gotta go!

Does anyone know when that show about Heaven (Barbara Walters ?) is coming on? I don't want to miss that.
