Ok..

Mexico's team is already on Europe, they'll play France on France Saturday on what supposedly is Zidane's last game on French soil. I'll keep you posted.

Australia beat Greece 1-0 in a 'friendly' last night in Melbourne - crowd over 95,000 (an Australian record for the code).

Josip Skoko (formerly Ghent in Belgium, now Genclerbirligi, Turkey) scored the goal - a cracker of a volley from outside the 18 yard box.

The team looked good, but still can't score. Next is the Netherlands in Holland, then Lichtenstein (really!) before making their way to Germany.

You know Greece are the current footballing champions of Europe right? Cool I can see the Aussies sneaking through their group.

It will be a sneak. Beating Japan is possible, a draw with Croatia, a flogging from Brazil.

Hey, if they score a goal in a world cup it will be a first (our best result in the only world cup we ever made (also Germany, 1974) was a nil all draw with Chile)

In all fairness, you do have someone called Mark Viduka in your ranks who is proficient in the Premiership. With Kewell and Cahill nipping around, you've got to believe. I'm not sure just how good Croatia are at the moment, they did very well in the '98 world cup but have simply never acheived that level since. You can take 'em.

The A2K World Cup Striker Fantasy Game has started.

You are all invited.

Let's hope it's even more popular than the Fantasy Olympic Games of 2004 and 2006.

Yeah, but at international level they've never really delivered on their promise (we haven't even mention Aloisi from Osasuna or Bresciano in the Serie A).

I just checked the world rankings - Australian has moved from 89th to 42nd in two years. Not bad, and having beaten Greece (20th) we will almost deserve to be in the final 32....

Those are the legs of Jennifer Aniston, he said without being prompted or coached, better legs than Clint Dempsey who served up one goal in the 2-0 US victory over Venezuela Friday.

More Trivia

Guess which country has the most world cup reps playing in it's domestic football competitions?

102 England
73 Germany
61 Italy
57 France
52 Spain
25 Ukraine

Bizarrely only one team has it's entire squad playing in its domestic competition, and has no world cup players from other countries playing in that competition:

Saudia Arabia

Sorry I'm on a roll

Which nation has the most gypsies in it's squad?

That is which teams have the most players playing for foreign clubs or the least in their own domestic comp?

0 Cote d'Ivoire (that's right - not one locally-based player selected)
1 Togo
2 Australia
2 Brazil
2 Czech Republic
3 Argentina
4 Ghana
4 Trinidad & Tobago

Also to clarify my last post - there is one other country who's entire squad is playing in their domestic comp (but unlike Saudi Arabia, lots of other qualifying countries' players also play in that comp):

Italy.

Yeah, but that's because Cristian Vieri (who plays in the French league) got injured.
