There are two words that will be burned into the memories of the USA team after today.

Pavel Nedved.

Yes, while we Yanks having been playing at this game badly for only a hundred years, you Brits have been playing badly much much longer.

The rules were drawn up by Oxford and Cambridge universities in 1863 I believe. It doesnt really matter how we play. The rest of the world should be glad we allow you to play. Smile

Nedved will be playing. I think the Czechs are well placed to go far, and good price too.

Well, only about ten minutes to kick off, for Australia v. Japan.

38C in the stadium, so players will be suffering.

Personally, I would love it if the Aussies beat Japan today.

(well, they're pretty rubbish at cricket at the moment, so they need SOMETHING to cheer them up)

I love the Budweiser ads that are on Brit TV before and after the various matches.

Hilarious!

It takes the theme of two American newscasters, chatting to each other about football (soccer) using all the wrong terminology.

"Hey Brad" says Dan, looking down at the monitor "Those rookies look like they're just out of Kindergarten"

"No Dan, they're the mascots" replies Brad.

We get our humor from the English.

I wonder if I can slip out around lunch time to catch the USA game. I'll still pull for them even if I don't think much of them. We have a strong defense, so maybe we can hope for a tie. I don't see any real possibility of scoring barring a mistake on the part of the Czeks or some real dynamite chemistry -- which I've never seen on the US team.

How's the Australia-Japan game coming along?

I think that dadpad is correct.

In Europe, refs usually side with the goalie, if any contact is made.....and there certainly was contact.

The goalie positioned himself wrongly though. Probably the sun in his eyes.

Still.........tough decision, IMO.
