No, I didn't make that up as I went. It's New Thought philosophy. Frankly, the sacred books of all people declare God as the One, a Unity from which nothing can be excluded and to which nothing can be added. Be it the Bible, the Tao, the Hermetic teachings, etc., they all claim the same, but not all interpret it this way because the meaning has been diluted by the dogma and agenda associated with organized religion.

If this interests you, then I'd suggest reading The Science of Mind and Living The Science of Mind by Ernest Holmes. Here's a mindbender, The Matrix was an allegory about just this. Those Wachowski brothers are a couple of enlightened dudes.

Re manifesting, there are a myriad of books on the market including the Abraham teachings by Esther and Jerry Hicks. It only makes sense that we can create if we are one with God. I use my creative abilities everyday to create every thing from parking spaces to money. There's a little movie called The Secret that explains it all rather succintly. How do you think that Jesus turned water into wine? He wasn't a magician, but an expert metaphysician.

Do a little reading before you poo poo it, then experience it. I'd suggest reading The Science of Mind and Living The Science of Mind by Ernest Holmes. Here's a mindbender, The Matrix was an allegory about just this. Those Wachowski brothers are a couple of enlightened dudes.

Earlier I said:
"Marlies is giving us an intuitively meaningful DEFINITION of "God." Its "justification" is in its meanginfulness. It is a personal truth that you can or cannot share, more like a subjective understanding of a joke than providing an objective cure for the cold or empirical support for an historical interpretation."

Scratch that.

I've warned folks about this before; but apparently it is necessary to repeat myself. There is a condition known as mucopolysaccharineurodigitosis wherein every time one picks his (or her) nose a small portion of the brain comes out, eventually leading to symptoms similar to Alzheimer's.

And.

Er.

Let's see.

I forgot what comes next.

Lately, I've been pondering this myself. I'm not religious, but I do consider myself to be spiritual. God is divinity, and I wondered what of this earth could possibly be as perfect as God? The only answer I could come up with is that nature is relatively close to perfection. Without mankind this earth would exsist harmoniously. Therefore I see God in nature.

Welcome to the forum mcho, I see you live in a fine place. I live in Edmonds, WA, myself.

Hello Neologist!
Thanks for the welcome. Smile You know I've lived in Washington my whole life and I'm almost ashamed to say that I don't know where Edmonds is, although I've heard of it. Is it up north? I reside in Tacoma. So, without having to go through 57 pages of posts, mind telling me what YOUR thoughts on God are? Do you claim any one religion?

Apparently, I am the only Jehovah's Witness crazy enough to stick my neck out on this forum; and Edmonds is on the Sound, just North of the King/Snohomish line.

Neologist- Hmm.. Tell me about your religion. When I think of Jehovah's Witnesses, I think of an obscure religion that doesn't allow its followers much fun. I remember in elementary school I was so sad when a classmate couldn't receive my birthday gift to her. What are your fundamental philosophies?? And why must you be crazy to post your thoughts on God?

Well, if you were to follow my posts and some of my dialogs with fine fellows like Setanta and the late Timberlandko, you would find that I am no stranger to fun. Neither are my fellow Witnesses. While we do tend to stay apart from what the 'world' believes to be fun, we party and play cards, drink beer (some do) and give gifts.

My fundamental philosophy is that God is not responsible for the calamities mankind has chosen to bring upon itself and he has recorded in his word, the bible, what he intends to do about it.

But a squadron of words, I'll admit, compared to an army of thought.

If God is not "responsible for the calamities" then why would he need to do anything about it?

I would have to agree with Neologist- the part about mankind bringing calamities unto this world. Mankind is everyday faced with choices. We are not forced to do anything we shouldn't or don't want to do. Chumly- I don't believe God does anything about the destruction mankind brings. If he did there would be great miracles left and right alongside all the chaos. It's not up to God to correct our mistakes. My own personal philosphy on God and the hardships we endure are that we are to learn from all the mistakes and sufferings. It's a lifelong journey. We all have some lesson to learn, and God watches from wherever he stands, hoping we will find our own paths. If he were to interfere, then the lesson would not be learned.

Why are we relegated to always be less than god?

God doesn't need to save us from our stupidity. It's just that he has promised to do so.

As far as being less than God is concerned, I'm comfortable with that arrangement. I'm happy just selling stuff like this on eBay: http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/2/8/8/7/9/5/webimg/29690377_o.jpg

We have all the potential to be as great God. Our souls at least. Diamonds in the rough I suppose you could say.

I'll take it step further. We are God, or at least portions of the living God. Everything is intertwined with God (according to Buddhism). I picture God as a "good" Emperor Palpatine: God has coordinated every instant with the start of everything, the "first action." We are living because God wants us to be, and in that aspect I picture God as a child playing with toys. We are the toys.

Some different views of friends of mine:

There is no God.
God is a man-like creature and we are His children.
God is like the Force in Star Wars.
God is a man, who is at every moment living on this Earth.

Welcome to a2k, saj. Is you, is it not? I'm sure you will have a fine experience here.

But if you are God in any sense, what are you going to do about the violence in the world?

Do nothing, as that's what the police are for Razz.

You have to remember that since everything is God, you can't have control over anything else. Jesus was the embodiment of everything, meaning that since he had portions of everything inside of him, he could manipulate his surroundings (much like Jedi as Jesus and medichlorians as God). Am I making any sense or am I rambling?
