Piffka,happenstance again!!
That´s just how it is.I don´t plan stuff so the grain looks good.
You don't? But, I don't understand... if I were to work with wood I'd look at the way it grew first, how the grain grew. I wouldn't just carve the branch or the juncture, but I would be using it.
I'll have to look at the piece again, but it seemed like the "heads" had very interesting grain patterns.
Maybe you're doing this and don't even know it. Weren't you just delighted when you saw the heart appear?
Of course I was delighted.
There are things you cannot carve because of the way the wood grew but generally it´s simple to see before you start.
One has to be master of the material and not vice versa.
Early on in this thread I wrote about the grain.
Well that's all right then. I was beginning to think I was seeing things...
had checked twice to see the heart!
I'll reread what you said about grain.
ehBeth,I don´t know if "getting a response" was his goal but you ARE right about the majority of people having an opinion.Just about everybody is familiar with his work. His stuff is very distinctive but it´s also everywhere in the world.
Barbara Hepworth has been a big influence.
Here is probably her most well known piece:

I don't know why I keep drawing s blank, trying to get to your work.
Viewing...
the wood sculptures I would guess two artists who have influenced you are Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore.
An astute observation,Pitter!!

How come, hebba? What's the story?
No idea msolga. Will have to talk to my web man.
Oh ... I'm sorry that's happened, hebba.
It´s BACK!
All I did was sleep on the problem msolga.
It was there the whole time for me. Made me wonder what you'd been talking about.
Hebba,
When can I get you over to the music board to teach me more about Jazz? I'm tired of the Sidewinder already and I need leads.

Ahhhhhhh!
The return of the lost, treasured thread!
Feeling better, hebba?
Wow, is what I say. I really like your work, especially Untitled II and VIII; I'd probably buy one of them, if it were on sale. The way that you've worked textures and put in so much care into their creation is wonderful...
Is your exhibition still going on in Copenhagen?
Dròm, II and VIII are long gone.
Thanks for the positive comments.
The exhibitions are long gone too!
Very nice presentation. I see an historical link to Barbara Hepworth.
Hi hebba!
Are you working on any new pieces at the moment?
