Planning a drop in ---probably Sunday as the other two are workin' days....
BigDice: Well.........I WAS trying to be delicate about it:)
Mapleleaf, I hope I'm right, but I'm sure Phoenix is planning to be here, if all is well with her mom:) She is such fun, it just wouldn't be the same without her!
Letty, if it depends on the weather, you will be here then. Urs has promised to drive up and pick you up:) So there's no excuse girl ... !!!
Greyfan: We will be so happy to meet you!
Let's see, on April 16, 17 and 18 (or there about) we would have:
Rae
Mapleleaf
Misti
Bigdice
Urs
Bear??????
Greyfan (Sun)
Phoenix????
Anyone else?
I am going to have to see what is doing in my neck of the woods before I commit. My mother has been having a lot of health problems lately, so I will have to see how she is doing at that time. That is why you haven't heard from me lately. If there is any way that I can get away, I will be there.
o.k. - i'll admit to being clueless about where things are in Florida. Where's the nearest big airport to where the get-together will be?
Orlando has the closest major airport to Cocoa Beach. It's about a 50 mile drive from there. Are you going to try it, Beth?
Thanks, Roger. I thought I'd take a look at what the flight costs and availability are. I'd like to take a wee break in April and this looks like it would be fun if I can work it.
Sitting at home, recovering from a sinus infection, looking out at -20 temps, a weekend in the sun with friends is verra verra tempting.
I would also like to, but it's too early to predict my schedule. Also depends on costs. Interestingly, BigDice and Urs made it from Germany for about $30.00 more that I paid to get there from Albuquerque
ehBeth ~ Melbourne International is actually the closest airport, so you wouldn't have to rely on a vehicle because it's close enough to me that I could pick you up.
I WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT IF YOU COULD BE HERE!!!!!
Being able to give you a huge hug would be awesome!
Oddly enough though, going through Melbourne airport might cost a bit extra.
I'm just excited that you're even thinking about making this trip! I'll pick you up in Miami if I have to!
Roger ~ I know your decision depends on a lot of circumstances, but if you could make it, I would be a very happy girl!
And if Stefan is listening......I promise ~ you and I will definitely go fishing this time. I'm totally accepted now as a an angler on the pier because of my catches ~ three twenty-seven inch red fish, a black drum and a few pompanos.....
You just have to promise me that you'll be ready to go at 6:00 a.m. ~ when the pier opens. I've got all the equipment, and everyone knows me, so we're good to go.
I've got three poles ~ and rentals are available ~ so anyone who wants to go is welcome.....but we're talking serious fishing. Staking your spot, sitting, watching, waiting, waiting, and waiting.
For those not seriously interested in fishing, the pier bar opens at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday!
Sounds like fun to me, I think I'll come:)
I was afraid of this, Rae. The incident I described with the cute little blowfish with teeth was the last time I ever went fishing. I don't eat them and don't handle them. Are you disappointed in me?
I love fishing!
I suspect this kinda fishing doesn't involve worms though.
Darn.
Will keep watching the flight $$. They seem to be quite volatile right now.
Roger, I promise that you will not catch a blow fish at the pier. You don't have to eat what you catch either ~ the rest of us will be happy to assist you there!
No worms, ehBeth.....just live or dead shrimp, finger mullet, squid and fiddler crabs.
Fiddler crabs - is that like big crawdads?
I'm not squeamish about puttin' stuff on hooks - as long as the bait can't attack me.
All I know about fiddler crabs is that they are pretty small and sheep-head fish LOVE fiddler crabs.....so do lots of other fish!
Rae, no problem for Stefan to be there at 6 a.m. He simply will not go to bed :-)
Beth, if Rae can't pick you up for some reason at whatever airport you would be flying to - I will!!!! And let me tell you - some sun does wonders. I just spent one and half days in the south of Spain. It was a dream - even though I had to work...
Dear Beth ~ you realize that you HAVE to come now, don't you?
Ursula and I will BOTH pick you up!
Yes Beth!!!
Rae, what on earth is a sheep-head fish? Can I eat that? Does it taste good?
Ummmmm.....they are edible, they do taste pretty good. They look like zebras though with white and black stripes. Don't have any idea how they got their name!
