Yeah, you are right. I don't want to encourage them. They might even take offense at someone implying there is such a thing as religophobia.

MA and co,

You are correct in dismissing the word "freak" because the "irrationalism" of religion is tragically so common an occurence....but please continue with your "group hug"....after all, like Nero we must all find something to do while Rome burns !

Not only DO I think that there is an entity that could be characterized as "religiophobia", I also think that the phobia comes out of the realization that there are people who are so "religiocentric", that they would use their particular form of religion as a rationale for changing laws, based on THEIR religion, that would affect ALL people.

I come from the "live and let live" school of thought. I become very distressed that there are people, because of their religious beliefs, who would interfere actively in other peoples' lives.

And then there are those that vote for the things they think are right or wrong.

yes, it's quite amazing that the brits drive on the wrong side, perhaps a vote would steer them to god.

It seems to me that according to the "rational" worldview only the intellectually gifted people can really aspire to living a moral/decent/worthy life and existence.

They are the only ones who would be capable of really knowing what is right and wrong by their study of empirical proof, and trials of error reduction.

Those of us simpletons who can't grasp the details of the theorems, proofs, evidence, logic etc, would be doomed to a life of moral confusion or a life dependent on the "smart" people to tell us what right and wrong is.

Maybe the simple folk like myself in this world would be better off to abandon our pernicious (wicked) myths and beliefs in a loving God(theism) in order to be lead by you people(man/men) who are intellectually and rationally supreme. For the sake of all mankind....of course? Yes/No

Maybe even for the sake of...."peace"?

If you believe this to be true, based on evidences, logic, rational thought then....say so. If a direct answer is not given....simple and "uneducated" folk are only left to assume this assertion to be false.

fresco, helio....anyone care to answer?

Bartikus, Welcome to a2k. Your thesis is just plain wrong; there are many intellectuals and scholars that can believe in their god and still understand the issues of science and logic. It's not a all or none deal, as with the people on the "other side" of the fence.

If there were, indeed, any man that was superior you might have a shot. But, God is superior to man.

The only reason god is superior to man is the fact that man created him that way.

My thesis is wrong but many have asserted that what I said was in fact true based upon my brain "virus". Of course, I do not believe this but since my belief is not based on evidences.....I like all people are in a place where it requires...faith.

I believe that all people use some measure of faith.

Nah. You have it backwards, C.I., God made up man. Man did not make up God.

Many people can understand logic and science...but can all? what about these people. Some might see them as the least of us. What about them...they only have faith!

To all Christians:

The nature of the viewpoint I expressed in my original post on this thread is what I would consider...the nature of the beast as described in revelation.

Am I wrong believers?

Bartikus,

Which post are you referring to? The one up further toward the top of this page?

If so, I'm not really sure what you are saying so I can't answer your question yet.
