@Setanta,
It doesn't even show up as a full post. I get "1 reply" and then I have to click on it to get a sentence broken off in the middle. Odd.

Edit: Now I don't even see that much.

True, some amount of speculation is involved, but the ability to read micro-expressions is a highly evolved trait and can be honed with experience.

Yes. It's called physiognomic tact. It can be intuitive. It applies to written expressions as well. And other forms of representation.

I have had two or three experiences of people trying to convert me to their heretical cult and my impression was they were attempting to get a gold star back at Headquarters for making the most converts in a month. The winnowing process, similar to that of football coaches, has, as its objective, being chosen to represent the cult in that Heaven of Heavens television.

Looking at the conclave of Cardinals leaves no impression that any of them are secretly trying to work their way into Heaven. They are engaged in a far more serious business that that. Fixing the rudder for example. Who knows what Cardinals whisper in the ear of leaders?

@spendius,
"physiognomic tact." That's a great term! Thanks, spendius. You taught me something interesting today! Very Happy

@FBM,
Or "flair". Knowing what it is does not demonstrate having it.

Spengler discusses it. He offers the judgement of horses as an example. People paid millions at yearling sales on Lester Piggott's say so.

The predator has it with respect to its prey. The human female being no exception. Portions of the electorate vote on nothing else.

The danger is the plausible teleology especially when it bolsters a subjective position. There is physiognomic flair and then there is physiognomic flair. It's relative.

@Setanta,

I have no respect for you because you haven't earned it. You still prate about your special relationship with "god," and your "gift" of prophecy. You usually do so by going on and on and on and on . . . with almost opaque writing which is often indecipherable. I don't see you contributing anything worthwhile to these discussions, so, no, i have no respect for you.

But this is the thing you do not understand about it all...Or care about...Some one should not have to earn respect in the terms of general civility from you...that is an absurdly superiority complexity issue...It should be a natural, or second nature occurrence...That is why I could care less about trying to substantiate anything for your approval...because I think it is demeaning, and shows no self-respect for myself...and I won't even bother...whatever is going on in your own mind is something you have to deal with on your own...I think it takes a lot of gull to try to assert that you are the one who has this right to go around and critique what you think is ethically worthy...And decide what you think does not substantiate anything...and try to point this out to other people...

I think you are a very hypocritical person, or you enjoy doing this...but everything you post is far from ethically worthy yourself...

So I have no interest in earning your respect if you are not willing to naturally provide it...

Just don't bother asking me to explain any of my positions substantially for you because I have no interest in doing so since you could care less about having a general interest in actually trying to understand what my positions are...

It is just stupid for me to do on all accounts...you are patronizing people on here and I refuse to play your game of personally meeting your approval of acceptability of posting here...

My posts do not have to meet the moral worthy considerations of what Setanta considers to be valid...As long as it is what I genuinely feel...I am going to continue to post them...and I do not care how you think if you truly are not interested in asking me to explain them because you truly want to know them...

It is completely, absolutely, totally ridiculous for you to propose that I or anyone else have to make posts that meet your standard of worthiness in order for you to actually respect someone or their posts...Or find merit to them...

That is nothing but a huge ball of biases about life, and views and opinions about everything and everyone in general...

If you are asking me to explain a position...Then I expect the respect that you are actually interested in listening or trying to understand my positions...Since you are asking me to explain them...If you are asking me to explain my positions but have a bias that it will not be anything worthwhile, or show no respect because I have not validated my views to your standard of approval...Then I don't care what you think, and I have no interest in ever trying to substantiate anything for you...Why should I?

Sorry, I refuse to oblige...

@XXSpadeMasterXX,
You get no civility from me because, from the very beginning of your participation here you were rude to me and to many others. You started your thread inviting people who did or did not believe in Christianity to post, and you lashed out at people immediately. Ragman was the first person to post and you lashed out at him. I posted and you said you had nothing pleasant to say to me. Now you want to whine about civility. You made your bed and now you're whining about being obliged to lie in it.

@Setanta,
Then what is your excuse then? I have become friends with many of them, and have changed since I joined...If it is just me then why do you do these actions to many other people? Did they also create threads that lashed out at other people?

(of course not right)

It does not have anything to do with that at all...

You must subconsciously feel threatened by people that you must self label as being less worthy than you think you are...

And you always forget that I did say something nice to you in that post...

So it is OK for you to personally judge the worthiness of posts? But it is wrong for me to think that a person's answer to the thread was not up to my standard at that time??? What am I missing here?

@XXSpadeMasterXX,
I get nasty with people who get nasty with me. I have not been uncivil with you in this thread in these last few days, but you keep dredging up the past, talking about hatefulness, and basically suggesting that it is not civil to tell you that your English sucks and that your ideas are delusional. You've brought this on yourself . . . stop whining.

You've really got a thing about feelings of inferiority. It's not something i worry about, so i guess it must be something that haunts you.

@Setanta,
No you get nasty with everyone you feel like because you are a nasty person...and have no desire to change your ignorance...and it down right pisses me off to where I can't stand to see you continue doing it...

You get nasty in about 90% of the posts you make...to everyone...in some sort of way...

I think it bothers you that I have a backbone and stand up to you...

@XXSpadeMasterXX,
SpadeMaster...if you are going to ignore Setanta...why don't you just do it?

Why are you spending so much time and energy on someone you claim...OFTEN...that you are going to ignore?

Respectfully as possible, JUST DO IT...or stop proclaiming that you are going to do it.

It's hilarious that you get all sanctimonious about civility and then brand me a nasty person. I didn't call you any names. Tell me again about hypocrisy.

@Setanta,
So you're going to play that card? Really? OK, well who did you mean when you said you act nasty to people who act nasty to you? Am I one of these people? Or do you act nasty to me while you do not think I am nasty to you?

@XXSpadeMasterXX,
This is what i mean about you being incoherent. You've got this huge chip on your shoulder, and your responses derive from an entire history of resentments and inferiority complex reactions seething in your brain somewhere. You said i was nasty to people. I said i am nasty to people who are nasty to me. That's simple and straight forward. Are you alleging that i was nasty to you? You're the one who is calling people names here.

@XXSpadeMasterXX,
No need to reward abusive behavior with attention.
If a user wants to engage in civil discussion, this seems to be within the realm of possibility, for any literate member of our society.

@MattDavis,
Spade is the one calling names, he's the one engaging in abusive behavior. I guess you don't really pay attention before you jump in with both feet, huh?
