It's not Alanis Morrisette?
No, it IS Meredith Brooks. Her one great hit.
It's Ain't Nobody by Chaka Khan for me.
There's song by some weird group called Phoenix called "If i ever feel better" Can't make out all the words but the hook goes:
If I ever feel better
remind me to spend some
good time with you
you can give me
your nummber and when
it's all over I'll let you know
Some other gems from the tune go:
"Now I know there's
much more diginity
in defeat then the
brightest victory"
and
"It's like a bad day that
never ends i feel the
chaos around me
I better learn to accept
there's a part of my life
that won't go away"
" It's like somebody took my place
the rules have changed when I didn't know
There are things in my life I can't control"
"I don't mean to be clever
or act superior"
It's juts one great bitter sweet song which sounds like my life on a day to day basis. A constant struggle of meloncholic arogance
this years love - david grey
Reminds me of the best date i ever had. Everything went right and this song was on.
My wife and I immediately felt that "All the Way" was our song, because it speaks of total commitment. Our next anniversary is our 40th, so maybe this IS the right one for us! The only downside to having this as our song is that very few people know how to play it anymore, except on a CD-player. But, hey, it's our own oldie but goodie, and Frank Sinatra (though he had myriad problems) was a genius at phrasing. We still love to hear it--and when some fogey contemporary of ours plays it on the radio, we are thrilled. Fully commited love stays, as Bob Dylan put it so well, forever young!
Oh, I'm sailin' away my own true love,
I'm sailin' away in the morning.
Is there something I can send you from across the sea,
From the place that I'll be landing?
No, there's nothin' you can send me, my own true love,
There's nothin' I wish to be ownin'.
Just carry yourself back to me unspoiled,
From across that lonesome ocean.
Oh, but I just thought you might want something fine
Made of silver or of golden,
Either from the mountains of Madrid
Or from the coast of Barcelona.
Oh, but if I had the stars from the darkest night
And the diamonds from the deepest ocean,
I'd forsake them all for your sweet kiss,
For that's all I'm wishin' to be ownin'.
That I might be gone a long time
And it's only that I'm askin',
Is there something I can send you to remember me by,
To make your time more easy passin'.
Oh, how can, how can you ask me again,
It only brings me sorrow.
The same thing I want from you today,
I would want again tomorrow.
I got a letter on a lonesome day,
It was from her ship a-sailin',
Saying I don't know when I'll be comin' back again,
It depends on how I'm a-feelin'.
Well, if you, my love, must think that-a-way,
I'm sure your mind is roamin'.
I'm sure your heart is not with me,
But with the country to where you're goin'.
So take heed, take heed of the western wind,
Take heed of the stormy weather.
And yes, there's something you can send back to me,
Spanish boots of Spanish leather.
