Yes, so I've heard, H. Mind you, winter isn't over yet, but the weather types have predicted more of the same for Feb and Mar.

just checked the weather network record for 2001-2005. usually this time of the year the temps are minus 15 to 25 C overnight . it'll be just below freezing overnight, high for sunday of plus 10 C .
we can't remember havibg had a january when lake ontario wasn't frozen over at the eastern end - but the last few years the icecover was getting thinner. used to be able to drive on the ice .
checked the furnace oil-tank, still at the 1/4 full level. usually has to be re-filled by mid-january -
no complaints about that ! hbg

reyn : did i read somewhere that your parents came from holland ? (or am i all wrong ?)
i have a good dutch swimmimg buddy who's past 85 and still swims like a fish. he's also become somewhat of a computer literate in his old age.
i put him onto some dutch websites and he now follows the dutch news via the internet . he has also found some pictures of the village he grew up in and is quite taken by the internet. hbg

Yes, our family left Holland in 1956. My father, sister, and I were born there. My mother was born in Germany.

reyn : i'm sure he was smimming before i was !
he worked in the shipyards in rotterdam before coming to canada. he was a blacksmith and welder, and still has muscles like steel. he also was a dutch skating-champion and still goes skating ! (not me !)
he gave up driving last year after a small accident but still rides his bike in the summer. he's had a few falls and scrapes , but says : "at my age i don't worry about those things any more ". quite some spirit. hbg

ps. i guess you were referring in his interset in the internet and not his swimming. no, it's not my age ! i assure you it's not my age !

Okay, so long it doesn't involve politics and religion and is tasteful.

I am not sure if your three criteria are addressable under the guise of anti humor, but in any case I was not asking you if you wished to hear anti humor, only if you appreciated it as a form.

And I shall throw back and say.....

....it all depends on the subject matter.

Isn't that like me asking if you like art and you saying it depends on the subject matter not the quality of the art itself?

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying.

I would like all art, because of the subject matter. I don't care how well it's done.

Next subject, please...
