As some of you know, I can't take over the counter medicine... and I started coughing this morning... I know many of my friends are sick and I don't really want to get sick myself... especially because I am going out of state this weekend...
Anything that I can do to stop the cough from really starting?? W/out buying meds..??
Have a lot of cough drops with you at all times, and every time you cough, take one. At least it will prevent a vicious cycle of coughing and throat irritation.
Ewwww....Ewwww....Ewww....
If I start drinking plenty of water now, do you think that will help.. because I know if I don't take care of it now, it will turn into a bad cold... and I have a semi-date tonight so I don't want to be coughing up a storm..
Never take an OTC cough suppressant.

I don't have any right now, and I have been asking around at work, but I guess it hasn't gotten to be cough drop season just yet!!!

If there's no drug store handy, you can buy them at the supermarket.

I can't anyways, but if I could I hate cough medicine so I prolly wouldn't unless I was desperate....
But otc meds have antecataphetmine (sp?) in them which I can't have

Well, that sucks. My final word of advice - there are basically only two cough medicinces in the world. Most otc medicines have dextromethorphan as the active ingredient. Most prescribed cough medicines have codeine. Codeine works much better.
Take mega doses of Vitamin C.
Will peppermints work if I don't have cough drops??
Order some cough drops and have them delivered.
Do you have any tea?
I don't really drink tea, and most of it has caffeine in it which I can't have.... but I know we have a coffee machine in the building somewhere... I can check and see if they have decaf tea
Ask around and see if anyone has packets of herbal tea.
If you really need cough drops, isn't there a local store that delivers?
I have never heard of a store delivering...
Maybe Massachusetts just sucks :-)
We have one grocery store that delivers now... but you need to order a few days in advance...
around here you are lucky if the pizza guy will deliver

Peppermints work about half as well as good cough drops, which is still enough to be useful on a temporary basis.
Herbal tea is good, with lots of honey. Orange juice, of course.
