I called you both darlings and edited it, my adjectives are so corny. Ok, you're both darling.
Nice pic, Sublime, it brings back good memories. Thanks Soz and Osso, most pictures of me are incredibly uptight and bug-eyed. Like I said, two weddings and three graduations with no pictures worth developing. Amazing what a glass or two of scotch can do to take the edge off the nerves.
Soz, are you still planning a trip into town in December?
Chicago natives look so nice. Makes you want to go there, don't it?
Thanks very much for posting the photo, sublime. I was going to go meet you guys at that restaurant. My wife asked me to stay home and go to the next gathering instead. She had just returned from a long trip and didn't want to be left alone with our six year old (or maybe wife had some idea of what J-B looks like!)
We'll catch you next time for sure, wandel. Maybe Joe will actually join us next time

I guess he'll be joining us twice. Sorry for the double post - all sort of wacko posting bugs coming at me today.
I hope Sublime sees this sometime...
The UVM alumni assoc. is hosting a gathering at "The Sports Corner" at 956 W. Addison for a broadcast of the UVM/UNH hockey game. Isn't that right near you?
It is pretty close but I'm not a big hockey fan.
JB are you going to see Buddy Guy in Jan.?
I think there are still some shows available.
Well, I dragged Mr B to see him at Blues Fest and he told me at least 12 times that he's not a Buddy Guy fan. I have a couple of his CDs and I'd love to go but I'm sure I would be spouseless for that one. Are you going?
I'm not a big hockey fan either, but hockey is about the only thing that UVM was ever very good at (until recently with the basketball team) so they have a big following. I've never done much with the alums here but I thought the address was in your 'hood.
BTW, what's the best way from the airpot to the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel?
http://tripsweb.rtachicago.com/cgi-bin/itin.pl
This is pretty much the best way using public transportation.
An easier way would to get in a cab and say Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel please. But it would be a bit more costly.
JB, I am planning on one of the shows but not sure which one yet. I am thinking maybe the 15th as of now but no tickets are bought yet.
I definately won't be going that night. It's the day I turn the big five-0 and I'll be either celebrating heartily or lamenting my woes, I haven't decided yet
J_B, The big five-0 is the right of passage for those that have "made it." Life gets better after that. It may be hard to believe, but it's true! Celebrate.
Thanks, ci, I'm feeling pretty good about it. I'm the youngest of my siblings so no matter how old I get, I'm still the baby.
Same here!
Going to Chicago may be just the way to celebrate turning 50! It's a great party city.
Dunno the proper place for it, but I've been wanting to say that I had the BEST TIME in Chicago. Every day I was there was absolutely packed, but I'm raring to go back and do the rest. One of many highlights:
Taking the cab to the Shedd (sozlet loved the cab part), having a great time in the main aquarium on their free day, then asking the ticket taker at the Oceanarium part how much it'd cost to get a ticket just for that part, being told a high number, preparing to tell sozlet it was too high, and then being waved in (free of charge!) by the super-nice ticket-taker, and then watching the dolphin show with an enthralled sozlet with that gorgeous panoramic view of the lake behind it as the sun went down, and then emerging from it all into a thick snowfall and hailing another cab and going through the complete inside-a-snowglobe winter wonderland back to the hotel in the cab, with holiday lights everywhere...
sozobe,
Were you able to get together with J-B?
I wasn't. :-( Things were really crazy this trip, did a ton but it was pretty much continuous zooming from one thing to the other and then trying to get to sleep ASAP because it tomorrow was another big day...
Next time, though, I hope to meet her.
Oh and thought of eoe and Osso as we passed Marshall Field's and looked at their holiday window displays...
