Where will you be staying, Swimpy? I am only asking because I spend all day Saturdays in Oak Park where I live (I am usually flying kites with my seven year old daughter).

Monday thru Friday I work downtown Chicago. I met Osso, c.i., and Walter for breakfast on my way to work a year ago.

I could have breakfast or lunch with you more easily if you are in Chicago on a weekday. If you are staying, by chance, in Oak Park, I could get together with you on the weekend.

(I sound like a real party person, don't I?)

I was thinking about just coming in for the day on Saturday, not staying overnight.

JPB or joefromchicago should stop by this thread. They always have better ideas than I do. The important thing is that you hook up with Walter (and I believe c.i. is coming that weekend also.)

I stood Walter up in Germany on February. I can't pass up the chance to see him when he is so close to me. I'll be going to the Cubs game with Walter, CI and joe (Thanks, joe!) on Saturday. That will be fun!

Walter,
You and C.I. should decide what time to meet. (I have flexible hours at my work.)

One year ago this weekend the gang was gathering for a fun-filled weekend. It will be nice to see some of you again, and at least one of you for the first time.

I'll be traveling next week but will give this much more attention when I return on the 14th.

From what I recall, ci arrives first, then Walter, and then Swimpy for a full day on Saturday. Sublime will be out of town that week. joe has tickets to the Cubs game on Saturday afternoon, JW can meet for breakfast or lunch M-F, and I'm keeping the week fairly open. Gargamel and jp will hopefully join in as they can.

We'll take it from there.

CI and Walter, give some thought to some possible sites you might like to see outside the city during the week, i.e., the Chicago Botanic Gardens are very close to me, as is Ravinia. Both are easily accessible by Metra. There may be other points of interest outside the city in other directions that would be best visited by car. I live in the 'burbs, meaning I drive everywhere.

JPB, The Chicago Botanical Gardens sounds like a good choice. Will look for more in the mean time. t.

Please keep me up to date on goings-on with dates, times and venue. My age gets nasty with my memory more frequently.

Perfect summary!

You said it better than I did, JPB.

Thanks!

Thanks for your kind offer, JPB - sounds good for me, too. (Evastone, Booman's Alley? Mitchell Museum? Coffee at Café express? [Geneva and St. Charles seem to be nice as well.] Oak Park could be interesting as well .... as is the Canal Corridor [for me]. But I have to leave a bit for the trip, though  )

(Besides the already fixed Saturday, I only planned - until now - to visit Glessner & Clark House and do architectural tour on boat, what I missed last year. And have breakfast with Wandel.)

Walter, the architectural tour by boat is very cool. I'll have to get with Jow regarding where to meet on Saturday. Parking near Wrigley is a nightmare. I could meet you guys at another location and maybe we could take the el to the ballpark.

I'll be staying at the Belden Stratford hotel at 2300 N Lincoln Park West. Any suggestion on how to best get to Wrigley from there will be greatly appreciated - by public transport, ofcoarse. t.

For those attending the Cubs game (Swimpy, CI, and Walter), the game starts at 12:05. We should meet up at some mutually agreeable spot before then. I suggest that we meet for brunch around 10:00. I know a number of good places for breakfast/lunch in the area near Wrigley Field. If that's agreeable to all, I will send details by PM.

The No. 22 Clark bus stops just about a block away at Belden and Clark. You can take that all the way to Wrigley Field (corner of Clark and Addison).

If we don't have to meet up at numerous mutually agreeable places for brunch, tenn o'clock and any of your recommodations will be fine.

(I wonder if I ever get the chance to taste that highly praised breakfast in my accomodation ...)
