I know by now that it is a bat-and-ball game.

I'm just in the middle of reading up all about "bat" ...

Well, at a Wrigley it's not about what's going on on the field. It's all about what's going on in the stands.

Especially if you are in the Wrigley Bleachers with joefromchicago! His incredible insight is appreciated by all who are within earshot. The players themselves turn around and pay attention to what he is saying. Smile

I am particularly insightful after a few Old Styles. They would do well to listen to me.

joe, I meant to ask you about this at lunch today, but it completely slipped my mind. I saw in the media that the first day was no big deal but I haven't heard anything since. How's your commute going?

Strangely enough, it hasn't been the disaster that either the CTA predicted or that I had anticipated, given the CTA's past performance. The morning inbound commute has been more crowded, since they're running fewer trains, but it hasn't been any slower. The evening outbound commute has been about fifteen minutes slower -- bad, but not nearly as bad as the 45 minute delays that had been predicted. All in all, it could have been worse, and it gives me more time to read while I sit on the train.

Send some warm thoughts my way Monday when I am freezing my ass off at the Cubbies home opener in the bleachers. If you happen to catch the game I have made it to the front row the past three years.

I saw a quick news shot of a home run late in the game. It was too quick to try to pick you out of the crowd.

joe's post about the CTA, followed by JPB's post on the Cubs opener reminded me that yesterday the CTA crowding problem was caused by people going to and coming from the opener.

Like joe, I also try to read on the train. It is harder to concentrate whenever you are with high-schoolers going home or Cubs/Sox fans getting rowdy. Smile

I missed the front page of the Sun Times by a about a half an inch, thats my arm in the brown jacket on the right side. Just didn't have it in me to take my shirt off. Its a good thing we all got off work without lying, half of my department is in that picture.

Laughing You're all nuts!

Be honest, sublime -- 10 years ago you would have had your shirt off too.

WTF?!?!?! We've got about 3" of new snow this morning and more on the way. The bus didn't show up to get the kids this morning so I drove the neighborhood gang to school -- it's NASTY out there.

Goosing this thread.

Does anyone want to update me on the activities planned for June. I was planning to make it a day trip on Saturday 6/2. I'd love to meet folks for breakfast, catch the game in the PM and maybe meet more folks for dinner before heading home. What say?

Since I happen to be in Chicago that day and by a fortunate coincidence go to a match as well ... that sounds fine for me
