It looks rather cold for tomorrow as well (and temperatures will become modestly higher over the weekend):

This is just why I left Chicago.

Talking with my business partner today, she screamed when the snow started falling in Chi. Here in Atlanta, I snickered, just a teeny bit smug.
Very Happy

That's not COLD for Chicago. I can easily remember Winters in the City, in January when wind chill temps were close to -40F. Baby that's cold. When you sit on a CTA bus and your butt freezes to the seat, you know what cold is really all about...

I heard that the snow today in Chi was the earliest on record since the 1880's! It never snows in October. Not THIS early in the season.

Normally, Chicago has "Indian Summer" in October, with many days often in the high 70s or low 80s.

With snow in Oct, in Chicago, I'll bet there's a giant blizzard this winter.

We had about 1.5 inches in the northern suburbs. 0.3" officially at Ohare and Midway. There's still snow on the ground here this morning. I get to sit on metal bleachers tonight at the high school football game watching my daughter freeze her butt off while cheerleading. Game time temps are expected to be around 40 with 20 - 30 mph winds ~~ brrrrrrrrrr.

My older daughter was also a cheerleader for the football team. That is her up in the air:

Miller,
That is the athletic field for North Park University at Kedzie and Foster in Chicago. Are you familiar with that area?

No, I'm not . I'm more familiar with the the SouthSide of Chicago.

But the Campus looks like it's suburban and not in the City.

Was the photo taken this Fall? It looks more like March out there, than Oct.

The photo was taken in November 2003. (My daughter graduated in May 2005 and now lives in California.)

It does look like a Chicago November. Reminds of the day in Chicago , when JFK was shot in Dallas. Gloomy and sunless.

JW, thanks for posting the picture of your daughter. Kim was a flier her first year in cheerleading. She was fine until they failed to catch one of her stunts in practice and she landed on her back. This year she's a base.

The girls don't have warm-up suits for cold weather. She's allowed to wear leggings, gloves, and a headband tonight along with a sweatshirt over her uniform. Part of me hopes the team doesn't make it too far into the playoffs in late November, but I don't get to say that out loud.

Good golly. JFK. I remember that day in Chicago a hundred years ago. I was eight. It was indeed cloudy and chilly.

Well it was only a mini meet. Only JB and myself were in attendance. We still had good conversation and beverages. There might have been a picture taken, not sure. Will have to wait for JB to verify.

This is sublime's post from almost one year ago. The anniversary of the first Chicago gathering is this week.

That first gathering produced a very cute photo of sublime and J(P)B. Actually, it turned out that joefromchicago was there at the same time as sublime and JPB but was unable to find them in the restaurant.

The date of that historic first gathering: October 28, 2005.
