Hey there!

Yes, I just finished graduate school at the University of Alabama and have returned to Chicago. I'm desperately hunting for editing/publishing related jobs. And I'll join y'all for food or drink anytime!

Gargamel, we typically set up our plans here. Stay tuned, we'll keep you posted.

Hi, Gargamel. I am happy J_B got you to consider meeting some of us. J_B is an awesome hostess and is unanimously endorsed as the president of the A2K Chicago chapter.

Laughing thank you, JW.

Unless something comes up in the meantime, the next time I think I'll be in the city is the first or second week of September. I always take a 'me day' downtown once the girls are back in school and we've settled back into our routines. That might be a good time to try the Mambo Grill for lunch. Sublime, would you be interested in joining us if we pick a Wednesday (or whatever day you are off from work that week)?

Otherwise, if any of you have other doings that you think might appeal to others go ahead and post them. Sublime, what day are you working at the Riverview Fest? The Subdudes and BoDeans are both on tap for Friday the 25th. You might be able to talk me into coming down for that.

I am working the beer garden on Sat. the 26th, not sure if I am going to make there on Fri.

Riverview Music Fest

Umphrey's McGee, and Freddy Jones are pretty good too, but I would probably pick the Subdudes and BoDeans also. I didn't get to pick the night I worked but I don't mind volunteering as long as I get free beer. Cool

Last year I saw Poi Dog Pondering and Liquid Soul, that was a great show and we raised $1500 for the Boys and Girls Club, on our side of the beer trailer alone.

I've been looking at baseball schedules. Any thoughts from the locals on this thread would be appreciated, thanks. http://www.able2know.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=2217218#2217218

Anyway, in looking at baseball schedules and knowing that at least some of you are Cubs fans, the possibility of an A2K Cubs outing struck me as potentially doable and fun. (I can't help it, I'm an incurable social director)

Is there any interest in doing an afternoon game sometime in September? Sublime, there are Thursday afternoon games on the 7th and 14th, if you're able to finagle a Thursday off. Evening games would be more difficult for me, but not impossible. Whatdoyathink?

The 14th would be doable for me. Wrigley is a bit far but I think I can manage.

The 14th is probably good for me -- I'd have to double check my office calendar to make sure that I'm not supposed to be in court that day. The bigger question is: can you get tickets to the game, J_B?

Reserved Terrace outfield and bleacher seats are both available. RTO seats are $20 each and listed as best available, bleachers are $30 (go figure).

The CUBS? Why the hell would anyone want to see the CUBS, when they see the WHITE SOX? Go see real baseball, for God's sake.

Right now, I am not sure I can make it. However, are there tickets available? (The last time I went to Wrigley, I couldn't get tickets.)

Well Dizzy, when you grow up--I know that's a long time from now (hang in there, squirt!)--you'll see there is an important difference between jumping on the bandwagon, and preserving your integrity. But don't you worry your little head about that now! Just work on puberty: it's a challenging time, what with the acne, etc.

So, little moron man, why not go to a White Sox game? Are you afraid of seeing a real baseball team?
