Oh but for the eventual insert for the regular toilet, I HIGHLY recommend one with handles, as they show above. Our first one didn't, and sozlet was nervous up there -- calmed down a lot when we got one with handles.

Good luck SheWolf...its definetly an adventure.

My boys were both different. The oldest one was a lil over 2 and the younger one was a lil over 3 when we were finished with the toilet training. The older one caught on...the little one didn't like it one bit. It was easier for him to be changed, then for him to have to deal with the potty. Once I left him alone to his own devise and quit pushing him..., he went.

I did find when they got old enough to stand and use the toilet....I put a permanent mark on the back of the toilet for a bulleyes..lol. But I don't see Bean doing the stand up routine...lol

Shewolf--

I started pushing toilet training because I had visions of sending my baby boy off to college in diapers.

Potty vs. Booster Chair. Does Mr. Wolf demand the bathroom on short notice? Does he resent abandoning the throne on short notice?

Either the potty or the booster chair are very inconvenient for a toddler who insists on reading a newspaper while being trained.

You got a point there Noddy...lol

Yep..if he doesn't like to be de-throned...I'd start off with the chair...unless you have two bathrooms, then I might designate one for Bean...or the King.

ok.. now i get what kind you were talking about soz.
I was picturing a potty that had a cover that came off to BECOME the stool FOR the small potty.

>whew< this potty brand stuff is confusing.
I have been hunting around on the internet looking at some of them trying to find one that is sort of tall for bean..
Jeezee.. you know they make pottys with SOAP dispensers??? Rolling Eyes
Im tempted to just hold her over the sink!

We do have 2 bathrooms and I never thought about that.. but i will need to designate a " Bean bathroom".
Mr wolf uses the upstairs bathroom primarily. Because bean and I stay downstairs most of the day, that is already sort of " our bath room"

Add to TO DO list -
clean out downstairs bathroom... make way for bean.
Measure downstairs bathroom toilet for possible
booster potty

actually.. scratch that last part.
I have a foam play scape that has a small 'step stool' on it. It is 2 little bitty stairs that are a great sink/counter height..

Confused
time to go obsess about bathroom and pottys...

The website was in one of the news magazines last week so you may be on your way as a Leading Edge Mommie.

Safety first
Potty step 'n' stool

is beans first potty. Very Happy

Uber mom strikes again.-
So, i shopped about online looking at satisfaction ratings, stink factors, and ease of use for a week before i settled on what i thought was going to be a good potty for her.
I was choosing a Grace brand for its height and many MANY remarks about its " non seeping odor factor" Basically.. when you clean it, it smells clean.
So we go to a few stores and see NONE of them, get to Burlington coat factory ( oy vey, i hate that store) and there are more potties then children in this WORLD lemme tell ya!
I found the graco one that I was looking at and the Safety first was right next to it.
Since they both have what i am looking for - no frills or cartoons.. this ISNT a toy, ease of use, etci Im torn.
Realizing the deciding factor in my decision, I pull out my keys and start opening packages . Shocked
I get about 1/2 way through the tape of the first box and realize.. I should have a sales man with me for this..
So, I grab a young man and ask him " How old do you think my little girl looks?" - a little set bak, he smiles at her and says.. " Gosh. about 2 1/2?"
So I procede to explain my dilemma and use his own words to emphasize my need to open pottys.
"she is taller then most babies and all of these pottys seem.. well.. for short people.."
Giving me the OK, i abandon him to return to my hand on shopping experience.
After 3 packages and several " come sit on the toilet" orders, we decide on the Safety first brand.
This one is tall enough that her feet can dangle Shocked if she sits all the way back.
This will be around through the next growth spurt and on to the big potty.

Signed,
happy + potty satisfied , mom.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Now I should have a national moment of silence..
it has been a task catching her before she pees, or poops
to get her to the toilet..
> humble silence<

Wonderful!

Now next week there should be another wonderful moment.

Remember, Bean may want to be dry--or Bean may want to be in charge. She is , remember, very like her mother.

oh lord..
if she was too much like me, she would just pee outside.
Laughing

so far, that was my first attempt since she was sick most of the week.
2nd and 3rd attempt today - nothing-
but she sure does like sitting on that little toilet.
So much so that when i remove it , she cries. :-(
But that is ok. That comfort will hopefully make this learning phase go much better.

Why remove it...?

That was definitely a big part of what we did, just leave it out and she could wander over and sit on it when she felt like it.
