@hightor,
Hi Hightor,
I'm going to try and explain Canadian politics 101 lol. Because we live above the meth clinic, many of our politicians, parties have increasingly taken more and more unhinged ideas from down south.
I live in Alberta, the epicentre of Canadian MAGA wannabes. They have an inflated sense of worth and a disproportionately huge chip on their collective shoulders. Like Texas, Alberta is big sky county, prairies and mountains, oil, coal and cattle, and horrible Nashville country music stations. We also have two main cities, of almost equal size - think Dallas - Calgary, Austin - Edmonton. Calgary is still pissed that the much more northern/central, slightly smaller, more liberal Edmonton is the Capital, all alone in a conservative wasteland.
We've had the same provincial conservative/reform/ucp/wild rose party for almost 60 years, with one brief break about 8 years ago, when the NDP ( New Democrat party) ruled for 4 years and wouldn't you know it, everything is still their fault. In every other provincial and federally gov., the NDP party is considered far left, not even close to commies but in the US we're all socialists sooo, it's all perspective.
In Alberta, the Liberals (Libs) are a dirty word, and only win the odd seat federally, mostly in my riding. The NDP are the libs in AB, very central/ the progressive opposition, kinda like what you probably wish the democrats were, but even most of the cons in Canada would have traditionally have been left of the dems. But now they're all mad a bud light too.
In BC the conservatives are a dirty word, so the libs are cons provincially, and the NDP are the libs. However, federally, the NDP and Greens are the far left, the Liberals in the middle and the Cons to the left of the Dems, Repugs were already way further right than we've ever been.
Make sense? lol
Any way, the big problem in Alberta is that we have a small population compared to Eastern Canada. And because of time zones, whenever we vote, the election is called before Alberta's results are in. So, they think every election is unfair, and now, thanks to Trump, they think it's been stolen. And during the last election, it was looking like the Cons might win, because the country collectively was tired of Trudeau, in fairness the hatred was pathological, and so many butt hurt Albertans sported **** Trudeau bumpers stickers from day one. Nothing he did was ever going to make them happy. But the Cons chose a leader most Canadian didn't like. A career politician that had never voted for the average Canuck, he always backed corps. and cuts, we would have probably held our noses and voted for his, but Trudeau stepped down, and Mark Carney stepped in, ex Head of the bank of Canada/England, he ran and won because Canadian decided they liked him better.
The miserable leader of the cons, Pierre Pollievre, lost his seat of 20 years, by a lot, and AB gave him a safe seat because they were so pissed off that the cons lost again. Crybabies... So now they (about 20-30% of the prov. pop) are calling for a separation referendum, that legally they can't win, because of treaties, and they'd go broke paying for all the capital expenditures they've been privy to, and what jurisdiction would be compelled to get their oil to tidewater without a crippling payola considering were landlocked, and so on, and so on. But Trump has empowered these morons to think that he'd care about them too. Our idiot premier has gone down twice to prostrate herself before him and to beg for special statues and he's ignored her requests twice. (all on the public dime)
So yes, teabaggers untied and we have to deal with this crap too.
Why is it conservatives are always so money conscious when it comes to helping people but they'll blow millions on ******* things up without blinking a hypocritical eye?
