We have all hemmed and hawed about the bad stuff - who is to blame, how could this happen, the looters, etc. There are also lots of nice things that people have done to help out victims of this disaster. As I try to be a positive person, let's make a list of things we have all heard or read of the good efforts people have made. Please no negative stories.
I'll start - Being a Red Sox fan I can't help but to tout Curt Schilling and his wife. They are paying for a family of nine to stay at a Boston hotel for a year.
I'm impressed with the way that the much maligned American media has covered the Katrina disaster--including the analysis in the print sector about the Rove attempt at spin.
Thanks to the media the public is aware of what is going on--and what was not happening.
i am impressed by the number of families out there opening their homes to katrina victims. i read one story of a family that had three extra bedrooms and bathroom that they opened up and two sisters who lost everything contacted them. the family then helped them both find jobs in the area, one at an elementary school, and told them they could live in their extra bedrooms for as long as they needed at no charge.
I heard of another couple who just bought a three family home. They offerred up the other 2 apartments to families effected by the storm rent free until they could afford to support themselves.
