Do you think that they didn't get it all? Is there any reason why that tooth should feel funny when hot touches it?

I got a root canal over a year ago and I actually had to have the root canal twice since the nerves were calcified and the first root canal wasn't sufficient. The second time they had a specialist do it and I thought I was going to pass out from the stress - I was in the chair for an hour and a half while she jammed my gum again and again.

I was terrified that, days later, when I had food that the bloody nerve was still there. It tingled and I imagined I felt pain whenever I had either hot or cold food, or even bit down on the crown. It took months to get over it because I am a complete and total wuss where pain is concerned. When I finally got my **** together I realized that the root canal was fine and I was imagining all sorts of things.

I think that your gum is probably sore - it took a beating. That's what root canals do. The sensitivity is probably from your sore gum and you are feeling the new crown (you did get a crown, right?) settling in. I wouldn't go ballistic. If it doesn't improve a month or two after the root canal, call your dentist and ask if they will check on it for you.

It was done by a specicalist and was a horrible pain in the ass after it was done. But about 2 weeks after the root canal, things seems to be going great. No pain or sensitivity. But in the last week or so, it started doing this. I guess I will have to call the dentist.

We should get hamburger in here to talk about root canals. He had one that continued to cause difficulties for at least a year. Turned out, when he went to a special specialist Shocked that his teeth have an extra root, which hadn't been caught in the initial root canal.

Given that you'd had good recovery, and things are now getting worse, I hope you've called the dentist to book a consult.

If you have a cavity, it is sensitive to cold. Sensitivity to heat means that a nerve is involved. Obviously, the dentist did not get all the nerves.

I know all about it............from the years that I was so scared of the dentist that I would wait until the tooth was practically falling out of my head, before I would do anything about it! Sad
