Liberal and conservative alike know the importance of open free debate and uncensored facts. It's not a matter of left or right. It's more just plain American. These "liberals" (their not liberal) are screening information they decide is bad for the public while pumping in their own bullsh%t. See cynical theories by James Lindsey. The resultis they are %100 confident in their ignorance and willing to back it up violently and call it "fighting for civilrights"

Who are the ones banning books? Certainly not liberals. And it is a matter of left or right - the left doesn't do that. Who's suggesting replacing the word 'slavery' with ... what was it I read yesterday? ..." involuntary placement" or some such thing. Get your head out of your butt.

@candide1984,
All light storm and luke-warm fury, signifying meh.

It all means less than nothing. I'd love to hear you state examples of that
fluff.

Liberals aren't liberal because compassionate conservatives, who aren't compassionate, are??? What a load of horse pucky.

I know this tread has been going along for a while, but I have to ask "Since when did Twitter become a fact checking or truth telling forum"?

@glitterbag,
I dropped it a couple of years ago, before Elon started mismanagement.

Aren't there any stockholders who want to sue Elon for mismanaging the Stockholders' investment?

Elon Musk has threatened to reassign NPR's Twitter account to "another company."

In a series of emails sent to this reporter, Musk said he would transfer the network's main account on Twitter, under the @NPR handle, to another organization or person. The idea shocked even longtime observers of Musk's spur-of-the-moment and erratic leadership style.

Handing over established accounts to third parties poses a serious risk of impersonation and could imperil a company's reputation, said social media experts.

"If this is a sign of things to come on Twitter, we might soon see even more of a rapid retreat by media organizations and other brands that don't think it's worth the risk," said Emily Bell, a professor at Columbia Journalism School who studies social media. "It's really an extraordinary threat to make."

Last month, NPR effectively quit Twitter after Musk applied a label to the news organization's account that falsely suggested it was state-controlled. Other public media organizations, including PBS and the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., followed suit and stopped tweeting following similar labeling.

Musk has since removed the labels, but the outlets originally targeted have not resumed public activity on Twitter.

Musk: "should we reassign @NPR to another company?"
In an unprompted Tuesday email, Musk wrote: "So is NPR going to start posting on Twitter again, or should we reassign @NPR to another company?"

Under Twitter's terms of service, an account's inactivity is based on logging in, not tweeting. Those rules state that an account must be logged into at least every 30 days, and that "prolonged inactivity" can result in it being permanently removed.

Musk did not answer when asked whether he planned to change the platform's definition of inactivity and he declined to say what prompted his new questions about NPR's lack of participation on Twitter.

In response to the original issue, Musk pulled all the warnings about government controlled or funded media from all websites, so no more flags on NPR and BBC, but also on on Russian and Chinese propaganda sites. Now Musk is demanding that NPR come back or he is going to give their handle away (which sounds like a surefire way to make sure that every credible media company is going to run for the doors.) Apparently, this is really getting under his skin. I wonder if he is going to remove every account that refuses to tweet.

No. Musk bought the company and took it private, so he is the only stakeholder. (All the previous stakeholders are very happy to have been paid top dollar for a business that didn't make money.)

More on the Twitter Blue fiasco.
Quote:
Twitter CEO Elon Musk has changed the description on the platform’s verified checkmark labels once more. The labels now make no mention of Twitter Blue, the paid version of the social network. Blue subscribers have subjected to massive scorn, and altering the label may help Musk avoid potential lawsuits from angry celebrities who want nothing to do with his blue checkmarks but who have received them anyway.

The change appears to have been implemented on Tuesday night, which is when it was spotted by Dexerto. Previously, Twitter attached labels on accounts with blue checkmarks that stated: “This account is verified because they are subscribed to Twitter Blue and verified their phone number.” However, that proved problematic—Musk forced blue checkmarks on many celebrities who had not paid for Twitter Blue or verified their phone number, including author Stephen King, Lil Nas X, dril, and even dead celebs like Chadwick Boseman and Anthony Bourdain, fueling outrage over them on Twitter.

In response to the paid blue check mark service where people who pay can get better access to your Twitter feed, the #blocktheblue movement has arisen. Of course that account has been blocked on Twitter, but there are actually browser extensions that will block all Twitter Blue users from your feed.

What a tremendous business failure when you have your most important users publicly saying they do not want your "premium" service.
