Come on, now. Let's show Ray some compassion. He's fighting to preserve the last bastions of his conservative un-reality.

I completely respect Ray...he's well educated, well written and at his age, he certainly has no shortage of experience...and I could find him a bit more agreeable if he opted to peer down a tunnel with a much larger internal diameter.

Just pointing out the dilemma created by the ever widening chasm between left and right..

If my position was that Fort Knox was filled with gold, your position would be, no, there was NO gold in Fort Knox. I would then take you by the hand and show you the gold in Fort Knox........you would most likely walk away scratching your head, mumbling.......how did Rove manage to plate all that iron with gold? Reality becomes conspiracy in the minds of liberals/democrats without any rationale .............. most likely caused by being on the losing side for so long.

Kinda like the hand-holding adventure we took into Iraq looking for those pesky WMD's huh?
Forget Rove...blame Syria, Iran and Pakistan for the removal of such an elaborate program.

If the left had gold in Fort Knox and they decided to tell the right...the right would simply claim there was no Fort Knox.
Two can play that game Ray....
...and the chasm widens.

Not bad Candide....... but you conveniently failed to address my main point:

You are making an assumption that there is a liberal penchant for creating a conservative conspiracy theory to explain away every liberal mistake.

Another false issue. Rolling Eyes

Laughing Well...I guess I could be partially in error. Even the brightest liberal couldn't create a conspiracy theory for.....EVERY.....liberal mistake.

No, I addressed a portion of your response.
Your incorrect a priori assumption is baseless. You falsely attribute to the left a penchant for conspiracy laden falsehoods that lack empirical evidence of any sort...and commit the same fallacy yourself.
You have given no evidence in the duration of my a2k membership that indicates even a slight inclination you would even consider accepting any any "facts" other than those presented by the far right news media.
When faced with evidence to the contrary, you casually sweep it under the conspiracy mat with all the other "facts" not worth pondering.

Rayban

I would not replace religion with anything. I would ask that you or anyone else keep your religion to yourself. The Ten Commandments served who well for two hundred years. Maybe the Sermon on the Mount would serve us better?

I suggest that you read the history of the United States with a little closer attention to what people have actually done in the name of God. I recall "manifest Destiny" which was the excuse used in the 1800's for our treatment of the "savages" in the west. The use of troops and private thugs to put down workers looking for a better life and decent living wages. These were all god-fearing men who cared so little for the lesser among them. But a conservative would call my pointing this out as revisionist.

This is a tough world. America was a beacon of light to the rest of the world. For you or anyone else to shove your opinion or religion down the throats of anyone else diminishes that light. As a liberal, I don't want you to agree with me, I just want the freedom to choose how I live my life.

I don't want you to choose the Ten Commandments a the guide for a good life. I may be that for you. It may not be for me. And therein lies the difference between us. I propose that you have the freedom to choose for you. You propose that you have the freedom to choose for me.

Lastly, before I let my tendency to sermonize get to my head. The most important document ever written in the history of the world is the Constitution of the United States. The essence of the document is simple: if it doesn't work for all of us, it doesn't work for any of us.

What is this the "Answer my Question with a Question" thread?

You engaged a ploy common with trolls, and I called you on it. Deal with it.

Just as you must deal with someone who does not feel the need to respond to your obvious attempts to bait them.

You called me on nothing.
You replied to a request made of another member, which, IMO, makes you the troll. Ray and I were engaged in a discussion and you felt your intervention was relevent and deserved merit.
And, as he predictably foresaw, one of his allies hops in front for some deflection.

No, you are trolling, and you were doing it in that other thread also. My pointing out that you're trolling does not make me a troll.
