Does it mean anything if your classmate keeps shouting out your name and then go with u to class?

When I arrive at school and on my way to class my classmate has been calling me lately (like, shouting out my name) and then when I stop walking he so accompanies me to the class.

He's an extrovert and smiley guy so I don't want to read too much into it. Tho we're not really close friends and nothing, just colleagues. Does he do it cuz wants to befriends with me?
