"Amicus cognoscitur amore, more, ore, re."
A rough translation could be: "a friend is known through love, habit, speech or deed."
I like this one from House of Leaves.....
"Chi Dara fine al gran dolore? L'ore."
Who will end this great sadness? The hours passing
Making the rounds, eh? That's a frightening thought.
Looking at the amore, more, ore, re part makes me wonder why they stopped before they ran out of elimination letters.
I just found it and thought it was an interesting progression. Sturgis, what else could be eliminated and leave a meaningful Latin word?
Amicus cognoscitur amore, more, ore, re, e?
if it were a Canadian speaking Latin.
