In addition to the spreadsheet, I'm going to provide what should be a phone-friendly web page. I've got a small site hosted by a Raspberry Pi that I use for keeping track of my game nights and murder parties. I've added a page for the current standings.
Your browser will warn you that it is not a secure site. The server will automatically update its local copy of the medal counts for each country every 15 minutes. Additionally, the page will auto refresh its display (our standings) every 15 minutes based on the local copy of the medal counts. Note that these two updates are asynchronous. The medal count updates will happen four times per hour on the quarter hour. The page updates will be in fifteen minute intervals based on when you pull up the page.
It's a simple, clean display that will just show the standings. The URL is:
http://pinkmeeple.ddns.net:8080/tokyo
If you use this URL, you won't need to log in. If you try to get to other pages on the site, it will ask you to log in, but should only allow access to this page. The username/password for this page (if you find you need it - you shouldn't) is tokyo/a2k.
You can go there now if you want. It, as well as the spreadsheet, is currently displaying standings based on 2021 predictions and 2016 results per wikipedia.

@markr,
By the way, the web site and the spreadsheet differ by 5 for tgordon92 because the IOC country code for Singapore change from SIN to SGP after the 2016 Olympics. Shouldn't be an issue when we get real results, but it's something to keep an eye on. Lebanon's changed at the same time.

Participation seems to be a bit lower than previous years. How would folks feel about extending the deadline to sometime Friday? I'm not worried about anyone getting a competitive advantage from knowing the results of the early softball and football matches.

New entry deadline is 4:00 p.m. PDT on Friday, July 23. Feel free to resubmit.

Note that North Korea (PRK) has pulled out. At this point, that affects only lmur.

@markr,
Thanks for extending the deadline! Just got back from vacation a couple days ago, and my brain still doesn't correlate an odd year with Olympics.

Will get some others to join too.

Is the gold medal that was predicted for North Korea now predicted for a different country, thereby altering the point value of that country?

@oralloy,
The short answer is the costs are not changing.

The "expert" source we're using had already come out with an update. I don't think it had anything to do with this - the differences don't really support that notion (see the OMP tab in the spreadsheet for the original and the update). I wasn't planning to change the costs when they make a change, but feel free to update your team based on any new info you get. The source of the costs is arbitrary. Basically, I think we're tasked with identifying bargains which is what makes this method rather different from the other one. There are other entities making predictions. I've added three ineligible "expert contestants" just for fun to see how they do with the costs assigned by the chosen "expert." They're at the bottom of the contestant table (far right, yellow stripes).
