MY garden is inside now, I have been attempting to keep tender fern varieties inside over winter and outside in the summer. I took some practice shots of a fiddle head yesterday just before my nephew dropped and broke my digital camera. So, the practice shots will have to do....

Nothing recent, Ms. O. But there's one I took of Nekochan taking her fresh air break, just a few minutes ago, however....

She stays outside only briefly whenever it's very cold. Too old to romp around in the snow like she used to.

She IS beautiful, neko! Very Happy Actually, the splitting image of one of my previous cats, Mozz, now in Feline Heaven. Even the markings are similar, like the tabby shawl over one shoulder only ... Just a wee bit chunkier! Very Happy No doubt she's looking forward to spring, to enjoy HER garden again! Very Happy

That's not a good photo, but thanks. I was trying to take it without a flash while holding a squirmy 14 month old......

I liked the way you caught the lighting on the plant, k. And taken with a squirmy 14 month old in tow, too! Well done! Laughing

Your reference to Nekochan's tabby shoulder coloration -- tabby shawl--
is such a nicely descriptive one, Ms. O, and is now included in my lexicon.

She's incredibly devoted to me; whenever I'm out in the garden she stays as close to me as my noontime shadow.

And she wears it with style & grace, neko! Very Happy
I like feline companionship in my garden, too. Like: I dig a hole. Flatty peers down into it & has a bit of a sniff around. I put in the plant & cover it with the soil. Cat & gardener stand back & admire the effect. Team effort!Laughing

A blue cardinal flower growing in the spot set aside for irises,in the shadow of a peegee hydrangia: (click image)

I suspect it's a sport of a hybrid cultivar, Victoria Strain, which went to seed a year or so ago. This is the first time I've seen such a plant.

About a foot away, a Cardinal Flower L. cardinalis , which grows locally in the wild, is blooming: (click)

Did some research this morning, and found a likely ID of this flower: Greater Lobelia L. siphilitica in my Audobon Field Guide to North American Wildflowers.

Here's what Google provided:
