Tina--

Go back to your doctor or visit your piercer ASAP.

I have no medical credentials, but the amount of infection you're describing sounds dangerous. I don't just mean "dangerous-no-more-belly-piercing", I mean "dangerous infection of the abdominal cavity".

These days there are a number of bugs that are highly resistant to antibiotics. Have you heard of flesh eating bacteria? Those creepy crawlies have all sorts of cousins.

Get an expert opinion as soon as you can.

I agree with Noddy - not least since you say you are taking medications that surpress your immune system.

Better to catch anything now than catch it later. Let us know what the prognosis is.

well the doctor was really nice. asked about how long id had it done, what i cleaned it with, etc. He said the lump is inflammed skin, caused by the skin nearly healing after the last set of antibiotics, then suddenly becomming infected again.
he recommended a titanium bar (like someone here already has), bcos he said there was a possibility i was allergic to nickel, and he gave me some antibiotics specially for skin infections.
i told him what the other doctor said and he "that doctor must have been in a hell of a bad mood, bcos they never should have said that"
Its looking alot better today anyway, even before i started taking the antibiotics (ive only had 2 so far anyway)!
il keep you informed ppl!

Be sure to take the full course of antibiotics, however many are in the bottle. This helps to keep bacteria from becoming antibiotic resistant. (How they become resistant is a long story, but it is important to take the full course and not stop half way just because the inflammed area gets better.)

Umm.. i just got mine done about 2 weeks ago.. i am still a little red.. it only hurts when i knock it, but i get this white-yellow stuff that comes out of it. at one time after my baby sister kicked it, the next day while i was cleaning it the stuff came out n it was mixed with blood. i have been cleaning it with saline n sea salt, it still comes out every once in a while. i am worried it is infected.. by the way i hear tea tree oil is good, it keeps the piercing lubricated n helps with the healing.. please help..

Unless it is green pus I think you are ok. Again, if it is still bothering you after 2 weeks, go back to the piercer. They can assess if you need a titanium bar.

That might just be the healing. Mine did too for the first week or so. Just keep it clean, watch it and if in 5-7 days it isn't better, you will need to remove it for good.
