Donald Trump flew into New York and arrived in Manhattan early Thursday morning ahead of a deposition in front of New York attorney general Letitia James. Trump did not stop as he stepped into Trump Tower but was seen waving briefly as he hurriedly walked inside. He took to Truth Social shortly afterwards, confirming his arrival while taking the opportunity to slam James as “racist” and “TRUMP HATING.” “I built a GREAT & prosperous company, employed thousands of people, built magnificent structures all over the World, but particularly in New York, & now have to prove it to this LOWLIFE,” Trump fumed, while taking aim at the judge in case. James filed the civil lawsuit in New York state court last September against Trump and his three adult children—Don Jr., Ivanka, and Eric—alleging rampant business and tax fraud.

Wow. Didn’t know that deposition is today. Sure hope it’s productive.

Letitia James will make a fine Attorney General, hopefully soon. I hope he lies to her. Perjury sentences usually don't require much of a trial.

I’ve heard a lot of speculation that all he’s going to do is set a new record for pleading the fifth. Maybe she can get a rise out of him. He does not like powerful women.

The man responsible for the leak of hundreds of classified Pentagon documents is reported to be a young, racist gun enthusiast who worked on a military base, and who was seeking to impress two dozen fellow members of an internet chat group.

The Washington Post interviewed a teenage member of the group, who described the man, referred to by the initials “OG”, from their online correspondence, and shared photographs and videos. The Post also viewed a video of a man identified as OG at a shooting range with a large rifle.

“He yells a series of racial and antisemitic slurs into the camera, then fires several rounds at a target,” the report said. OG told fellow members of the same internet group that he worked on a military base, which was not named in the report, where his job involved viewing large amounts of classified information.

The leaked documents have laid bare secrets about Ukraine’s preparations for a spring counter-offensive, US spying on allies such as Ukraine, South Korea and Israel, and the tensions between Washington and allied capitals over arming Kyiv.

The leader of a small online gaming chat group where a trove of classified U.S. intelligence documents leaked over the last few months is a 21-year-old member of the intelligence wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, according to interviews and documents reviewed by The New York Times.

The national guardsman, whose name is Jack Teixeira, oversaw a private online group named Thug Shaker Central, where about 20 to 30 people, mostly young men and teenagers, came together over a shared love of guns, racist online memes and video games.

Two U.S. officials confirmed that investigators want to talk to Airman Teixeira about the leak of the government documents to the private online group. One official said Airman Teixeira might have information relevant to the investigation.

Federal investigators have been searching for days for the person who leaked the top secret documents online but have not identified Airman Teixeira or anyone else as a suspect. The F.B.I. declined to comment.

FBI arrests suspect in connection with intelligence leaks

CNN — A member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard was arrested by the FBI on Thursday in connection with the leaking of classified documents that have been posted online, according to a US official familiar with the matter. The arrest of Jack Teixeira, 21, comes following a fast-moving search by the US government for the identity of the leaker who posted classified documents to a social media platform popular with video gamers.

Teixeira had been identified by The New York Times ahead of his arrest Thursday as the leader of the group where a trove of classified documents was posted.

The FBI had narrowed the number of people who they believe could be responsible for the leaks and have been conducting interviews in recent days, two people briefed on the matter said earlier. While there’s a large number of people who had access to the documents, investigators have been able to home in on a small number for closer scrutiny thanks to the forensic trail left by the person who posted the documents. Investigators are working on building a case for prosecution, people familiar with the matter say.

Another source familiar with the criminal investigation said that they expect it will move along much more quickly than the Pentagon’s damage assessment of the leaks. Earlier Thursday, President Joe Biden appeared to suggest that the US government was close to identifying the leaker.

No shield for Trump in rape accuser's case as court declines to rule

NEW YORK, April 13 (Reuters) - A Washington, D.C., appeals court on Thursday declined to shield Donald Trump from the first of two civil defamation lawsuits by E. Jean Carroll, a writer who said the former U.S. president raped her nearly three decades ago.

The district's highest local court, the Court of Appeals, said it did not have enough facts to decide whether Trump deserved immunity, after he accused the former Elle magazine columnist in June 2019 of lying about the alleged encounter.

A ruling that Trump was acting as president, and not in his personal capacity, would have immunized him and doomed Carroll's first lawsuit because the government could substitute itself as the defendant, and the government cannot be sued for defamation.

The court sent the case back to the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan, which had last September asked the Washington court for guidance on local law. Thursday's decision does not affect Carroll's second lawsuit, where an April 25 trial is scheduled in Manhattan federal court.

Hell, I don't want him to run. That doesn't mean I wouldn't prefer him to any of the front-running Republicans and I suspect 37% of other voting Democrats feel similarly. It's not really a matter of being in a "VBNMW bubble". If the Republicans want my vote, they'd need to support the issues that matter to me. I'm not voting because of some stupid slogan. When policies and issues get turned into simplistic phrases like "defund the police" or "better dead than red" we're into the realm of advertising, not political struggle.

There is NO sympathy at all in this house. There are things we do not share from our service to the nation with even each other: we simply do not have a need or the clearance to know. Biden did a wonderful job of getting out of Afghanistan, especially when compared to the hell's gauntlet the Taliban set up for the Russians as they ran the whole way to the border, getting shot up to pieces the entire way.
