@revelette1,
Assassin comes from the Arab Hashisheen, and assassination was very successful in the Arab world. If you are to take out the leader of an army then the army stalls, there is a struggle for power, and the new leaded may not be as in lined tonwar as the old one.

It was less successful against the Christian crusaders, they had an established hierarchy, when a leader died they knew who would take their place, there was no power struggle.

That's probably the case in Eastern Europe right now. It depends on how committed Putin's inner circle are but if Putin were to die suddenly it could well be a game changer, with the ruling classes choosing to cut their losses pull out and pin everything on the dear departed leader.

If Biden were taken out, it wouldn't change a thing. Kamala Harris would become president and US policy towards Europe, NATO, Russia and Ukraine would remain the same.

@izzythepush,
You're probably right, but it sure would be chaotic, especially right now. And no offense to anyone, but I couldn't imagine Kamala Harris making war decisions.

@revelette1,
A highly successful prosecutor unable to make "war plans"?

I will be very happy with a President Kamala Harris, in four years or eight. She definitely has the bones to quarter back the defense of the US! Very few Presidents had military command experience. It didn't seem hamper FDR's work in WWII.

No risk, no gain. I want a Zelensky, not an Orange Shitgibbon in the bunker.

@izzythepush,
What happened to Khadafi was a lot more than a turn in the barrel.

It was barbaric and fatal.

@revelette1,
You don't seem wrong or insistant to me.

You raise legitimate questions, as far as I can tell! And share different logical reservations. This is what we a2kers are about.

We all have concerns and questions and doubts, and we talk each other through them.

Yeah, I have a little irritation with her personality as I think she kind of gets a little giddy at her own fame sometimes. But I have no real doubts about her intelligence, or toughness, or any attribute necessary to come up with sound directives for the military. See, I think her intellect would move her to choose good advisors and people experienced with the foreign policy and rules of engagement in any theatre of war the US gets into.

I still would like to hear why Revellette “can’t imagine” Harris leading us in wartime.

She will be dressed in more gravitas as she gets older. If I had the accomplishment she does, at her age - I might be just a bit giddy myself.

Manchin says he supports Jackson for Supreme Court

Sen. Joe Manchin III (D-W.Va.) said Friday that he intends to support President Biden’s nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court, in a step toward ensuring Jackson’s confirmation.

Manchin, who has been a roadblock to some of Biden’s nominees and agenda items, announced his backing of Jackson in a statement one day after the Senate Judiciary Committee concluded its confirmation hearings.

“I am confident Judge Jackson is supremely qualified and has the disposition necessary to serve as our nation’s next Supreme Court Justice,” Manchin said.

Race hovered over Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation hearing

Manchin cited Jackson’s “exemplary” career and record and said that her various roles in the judicial system have provided her with “a unique perspective that will serve her well on our nation’s highest court.”

He also noted that Jackson and her family frequently visit Manchin’s home state of West Virginia.

“During our meeting, she was warm and gracious,” Manchin said. “On top of her impressive resume, she has the temperament to make an exceptional jurist. Notably, Judge Jackson and her family spend a great deal of time in West Virginia and her deep love of our state and commitment to public service were abundantly clear. I am confident Judge Jackson is supremely qualified and has the disposition necessary to serve as our nation’s next Supreme Court Justice.”

After a combined 36 hours of hearings, Jackson appeared to remain on track for confirmation early next month, according to interviews with key senators Thursday.

Jackson’s confirmation will not be overwhelmingly bipartisan, and the top Senate Republican vote-counter, Minority Whip John Thune (R-S.D.), predicted no more than three GOP votes in her favor. But leaders of both parties agreed that the long and often tense questioning did not alter the fundamental dynamics around the nomination.

In a 50-50 Senate, Jackson could be confirmed with only Democratic votes and Vice President Harris breaking the tie. Manchin’s support was crucial if Jackson secures only Democratic support.

The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to report the nomination on April 4, with floor action expected later that week. If confirmed, Jackson would be the first Black woman to sit on the Supreme Court in its 233-year history.

@snood,
Yeah I have seen The Help. I thought it was an immature and inappropriate response then, and I think you have no idea what you're talking about now.

Manchin is one of the few things holding this country together right now.

Do me a favor. Research what Biden's wish list that Manchin is putting the brakes on is actually like. Then research what countries that have had such things done. "Won't cost a dime?" Who are you kidding? Anyone with a decent education knows this would literally implode the economy. The actual pricetag?
Quote:
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office found the bill as written would cost $367 billion over a decade, but its true cost is substantially more because Democrats are using permanent tax increases to finance temporary spending programs. What Democrats are doing is analogous to someone having a $24,000 budget for rent who instead of renting a place for $2,000 a month, splurges for the $3,000 place, runs out of money after 8 months, and ends up homeless for the holidays.

That's to say nothing of the numerous socialist programs that terminally **** up society. Are you aware that the last ten or twenty times "socialism" or "progressivism" (communism) has been tried, things turned out like this?
https://qph.fs.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-dd053c6d5f4d296b754684e346ccdfc1
Everytime socialist politics are tried, "greedy" people who want to keep their livelihoods wind up dying.
Quote:
Raising aggregate demand while increasing the cost of aggregate supply is a recipe to keep inflation higher than it otherwise would be. That is the last thing that our economy needs. If this bill passes and high inflation taxes Americans next year, Biden and congressional Democrats would “own” it and deserve to be roundly punished in the midterms.

To say nothing of starvation deaths when inflation hits. That's the REAL cost of "Build Back Better."
How about, no?

Tell you what, rather than giving him some of her cookies, I'm gonna give you a truckload of Democrat bullshit about this not costing a dime.

Seriously, there no successful socialist governments? Democratic and Christian Socialist governments are doing just fine all through Europe.

Jut because you say it, doesn't mean it's even close to truth.
