I agree with this. It's true that American governments committed atrocities. It's also true that Spanish and British and French and Russian and German (and many other) governments committed atrocities. And Canadian governments were party to some of those (the worst on their own soil). He does speak the truth.
But... how to have a discussion with someone who comes out attacking and belittling those who don't like his approach and therefore won't engage with him, and then accuses them of being complicit by ignoring it is just beyond comprehension.
It's not
what is being said, it's
how it's being said. He doesn't sound stupid, so I'm thinking this is deliberate. He doesn't WANT a discussion; he wants to sit up there from wherever he is and point fingers and shame people. For what purpose? To be right? To be the rightest of everyone?
I ask what has HE done about any of the things he's complaining about? Has HE started a website to inform people and combat current government initiatives? Has HE written a book that will be required reading by all students? Has HE been on talk shows to educate the American people?
It's all fine and dandy to talk... but what has he DONE about his outrages?
