Majority of Americans approve of Biden’s coronavirus response, poll finds
Quote:
Two in 3 Americans approve of President Biden’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, according to a poll by ABC News-Ipsos, with widespread support for his efforts to pass a relief bill.

The survey was conducted Feb. 5 and 6 among 508 adults using the probability-based KnowledgePanel. Biden’s 67 percent approval on handling the coronavirus contrasts sharply with how Americans felt President Donald Trump handled the pandemic. In October, 61 percent said they disapproved of Trump’s response to the coronavirus.

Biden earned high marks among Democrats and political independents in the new poll, with 96 percent of Democrats and 67 percent of independents approving. Just a third of Republicans, 33 percent, voiced approval.

The poll found a wide majority of Americans favor a new coronavirus aid package, though there is disagreement on how it should be approached. About half, 49 percent, think Biden should work to pass the $1.9 trillion package with the support of only Democrats in Congress, while 40 percent said they want him to push for something smaller with the backing of some Republicans.

@Walter Hinteler,
Vaccines in my area have slowed to a trickle under the Biden Administration. We got more in a week under Mr. Trump than we are getting in a month under Mr. Biden.

I don't know how it is in other areas.

@oralloy,
Around here (NW NM) I registered about 3 weeks ago. They finally made an appointment for the 10th. I don't know if that sounds good or bad. At 76 years old, I suppose I got some priority. I also suppose they will have the vaccine when I get there. I'm also hoping the second shot will be there.

Biden hasn't been in office for an entire month yet. It's only been 19 days, I guess that is a glaring example of YOU being wrong, wrong, wrong wrongity wrong......

You shouldn't try to draw conclusions. You lack the proper equipment.

There haven’t been any reports (that I’ve seen) on any details about the two Capitol Hill Police who took their own lives immediately after the riots on 1/6.

I will not be surprised though, if when the the truth comes out that they were overcome with guilt and shame for their parts in the riots. There were many examples of police aiding and abetting the rioters.

I’ve often said that people on the right can’t be honest about many ugly things - like what effect institutional racism has on law enforcement today; or about who and what Trump really is. Because if they ever start to admit anything, it would be the start of admitting everything. like the fact that their efforts have supported a debased criminal fraud like Trump, and allowed white racist thugs to riot and kill and escape real accountability And that’s more than they can face.

So they continue to lie and try to drag everyone into the lie.

I won't be surprised if those two police may be two examples of what happens when a Trump supporter with a conscience becomes self aware.

@snood,
I'd heard about those suicides and thought it interesting that so little has been said about it. I suspect you're spot on about the cognitive dissonance. I've seen a number of videos of Q-anon followers breaking down as they begin to suspect they've been had.

No.

Facts and reality are not delusions.

@oralloy,
since what you consider facts and reality are is usually merely your opinion of what facts and reality are rather than anything actually actual, "delusional" is perfectly applicable.

@MontereyJack,
Progressives hate facts so much that they always try to pretend that reality is an opinion.

Your inability to point out anything untrue in my posts shows quite clearly that I have a sound understanding of reality.

Law Professor Cited 15 Times by Trump’s Legal Team Says Impeachment Memo Was Filled with ‘Flat-Out Misrepresentations’ of His Work

Quote:
Attorneys representing Trump filed a legal brief on Monday arguing that the U.S. Constitution only allows for the impeachment of sitting officials and therefore cannot be utilized against a president who has already left office. Similar to the House Impeachment Managers’ pre-trial filing, the brief relied heavily on a highly-regarded 2001 academic article on late impeachments by Michigan State University law professor Brian Kalt. Unfortunately for Trump’s attorneys, Kalt—who is widely viewed as the leading expert in constitutional law dealing with the presidency, presidential pardons, impeachment, succession, and the 25th Amendment—immediately responded to the memo by saying it repeatedly distorted and misrepresented his work.

Trump’s brief cites my 2001 article on late impeachment a lot,” Kalt wrote in a four-part Twitter thread. “The article favored late impeachability, but it set out all the evidence I found on both sides–lots for them to use. But in several places, they misrepresent what I wrote quite badly.”

The 133-page article, titled “The Constitutional Case for the Impeachability of Former Federal Officials: An Analysis of the Law, History, and Practice of Late Impeachment,” is an exhaustive analysis of the history and law relevant to the issue which ultimately concludes that there is a “solid basis” for post-presidential impeachments.

But that’s not how Trump’s lawyers Bruce L. Castor, Jr., David Schoen, and Michael T. van der Veen portrayed Kalt’s work.
“They suggest that I was endorsing an argument when what I actually did was note that argument–and reject it,” Kalt wrote, specifically citing footnote 57 of Trump’s impeachment memo.

GOP Rep. Ron Wright dies following Covid diagnosis

Quote:
Republican Rep. Ron Wright of Texas has died, his congressional office announced in a statement Monday, saying that he had been admitted to the hospital after contracting Covid-19.

"Congressman Ron Wright passed away peacefully at the age of 67 on Feb. 7, 2021. His wife Susan was by his side and he is now in the presence of their Lord and Savior," the statement read. "For the previous two weeks, Ron and Susan had been admitted to Baylor Hospital in Dallas after contracting COVID-19."

Wright is the first sitting member of Congress to die after contracting Covid. In December, Congressman-elect Luke Letlow died after being diagnosed with the disease.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/02/08/politics/ron-wright-congressman-dies/index.html

Other reports have suggested Wright may have contracted COVID-19 during the emergency evacuation of the Capitol Building on January 6th. Other GOP congressmen have refused to wear masks during the evacuation.

Please, wear your face masks, people.

As usual ,oralloy blows it.
Pfizer's production method has taken 110 days from the time a batch of vaccine is started til it's ready to send out. Since Trump stiffed biden's transition, trump is solely responsible for vaccine shortfall until the middle of May. Biden when he could immediately order 100 million more doses as I remember, which are still three months away, tho Pfizer in the last couple days announced they had a new process which only takes 60 days, so those should be ready in early april. JUst another trump cockup, nothing to do with biden

You can't provide any examples of me ever blowing it.

And no. Mr. Biden's incompetence is all his own. The vaccines were flowing freely when Mr. Trump was in charge. They only slowed to a trickle when Mr. Biden took over.

Wrong. Mr. Biden's failures and incompetence are entirely the fault of Mr. Biden.
