@RABEL222,
Rather sure that the majority are already aware. It's part of their overall protests.

@Sturgis,
We know what they are doing, now we have to demand a stop to this violation of civil rights and democracy.

Trump has already established that his allies, like Michael Flynn and Roger Stone, are above the law. What happens now will tell how many of you are below it.

@Walter Hinteler,
If he follows a2k, I'm screwed.

Hey, wouldn't that be something if they kicked him off of twitter and he discovered us?

All of us except the aforementioned. I only hope and pray Trump don't win again against all odds one more time. We are destroying ourselves with this man as President of the United States.

@roger,
Not too many pay attention. The ones who do in my part of the country are brainwashed.

@revelette1,
Unfortunately it seems to be the same in my part of the country. No matter how many laws our crooked president breaks the people in my part of the country make excuses for him. It just blows my mind the absolute stupidity of the common voter.

Don't be silly. Upholding the law does not violate civil rights and/or democracy.

Mr. Trump should take control of Oregon's National Guard and send them into Portland, IMO.

@oralloy,
Don't be stupid, local and State governments are more than capable of upholding the laws. The Federal Government is supposed to protecting the entire country from attacks by foreign powers and terrorists. Does it look like they are directing traffic or handing out parking tickets?? No, it looks like a mob of thugs with clubs beating the living hell out of people. They are so excited they are practically skipping around the Navy Vet looking for an opportunity to break a few bones. So ponder this, if the unarmed Navy Vet was such a danger, why wasn't he arrested or detained. They were not there to uphold any law at all, they wanted to crack heads and they indulged themselves. What they were hoping for was to spark a riot, because if the protesters fought back, then they could feel justified shooting people. How valiant.

Trump doesn't get to send in Federal employees (maybe prison guards, perhaps border patrol, who knows) to maim people because you don't like their 'perceived' political beliefs. Maybe you get a lift when you see other citizens being beaten but you should think again. If this happens to other Americans nobody is safe..not even you

The various riots and rebellions around the country this summer show otherwise.

It's their job to uphold the law when state and local government does not.

It should be the Oregon National Guard that Mr. Trump is sending in to Portland however.

Under national emergency mobilisation authorities? Under his authorities of the Insurrection Act?

Is any National Guard trained in law enforcement at all?

@Walter Hinteler,
The Insurrection Act will work. I am unfamiliar with the mobilization thing that you mentioned.

I do not know their exact training, but I'm sure they know how to use their weapons.

Yes. That is the nature of law enforcement.

@oralloy,
Seems very strange, not just for me:
The American Bar Association's Standards Relating to the Urban Police Function lists these 11 responsibilities:
Quote:
To identify criminal offenders and criminal activity and, when appropriate, to apprehend offenders and participate in later court proceedings.

To reduce the opportunities for the commission of some crimes through preventive patrol and other measures.

To aid individuals who are in danger of physical harm.

To protect constitutional guarantees.

To facilitate the movement of people and vehicles.

To assist those who cannot care for themselves.

To resolve conflict.

To identify problems that are potentially serious law enforcement or government problems.

To create and maintain a feeling of security in the community.

To promote and preserve civil order.

To provide other services on an emergency basis.
