@Olivier5,
People have the right to defend themselves when progressives use violence against them.

Don't hurt yourself with that shovel though. You may need more lubricant than you think.

@Olivier5,
My first line of defense is to prevent progressives from even being able to target me. Hopefully that will succeed.

Let's hope so. I don't want you to hurt anyone, least of all yourself...

If democrats dont like the confederate emblem they should never have created the Klu Klux Klan.

@Dr Sliptinschit,
It's not just 'democrats', it's all decent, freedom-loving Americans who don't like the remnants of slavery.

@coldjoint,
Why does it matter where I'm from, pinky? Do you disagree with my statement that all decent, freedom-loving Americans find slavery odious and the remnants of slavery objectionable? Do you like the confederate flag, perhaps? You think it stands for something noble?

@coldjoint,
By the way, the Confederacy was not a group of Americans...They had renounced their American citizenship and attacked the US because they felt entitled to buy and sell human beings to work for them. ..so what you seem to think is US history is really World History, it's the story of traitors trying to take over the real United States and they lost. The Confederate Flag is as noble as the Nazi Flag......

Perhaps Lincoln made a big mistake by not executing the men who started such a slaughter in an attempt to take over. You like your confederate flag??? Buy a few and sleep with them.

@coldjoint,
History hasn't been affected. You can still study it as much or as little as you want to...

So what's your origin, then?

People act as though the issue of the confederate statues is fighting over something that happened long ago. But the mentality of the Civil War has stuck around and is still around despite all the meaningful real changes brought about by the Civil rights movement. Not just (as though we can "just") the racial injustice of the police towards black Americans, but also in ways which affect their everyday life. There might be laws on the books, but they are not always adhered to.

As Black buying power grows, racial profiling by retailers remains persistent problem

Quote:
Industry watchers and activists say that racial profiling remains persistent and retailers must do more to examine how they treat and cater to Black customers.

Your history hasn't changed. It is not affected by the present, because it happened in the past.

What happens now is a re-assessment of history. What changes is the way to evaluate the past and to decide what to celebrate (or not).

@coldjoint,
Glitterbag is correct, the south seceded from the union which made them not Americans. Democrats who brought impeachment charges against Trump didn't seceded from the union. duh.

Quote:
American Civil War, also called War Between the States, four-year war (1861–65) between the United States and 11 Southern states that seceded from the Union and formed the Confederate States of America.

https://www.britannica.com/event/American-Civil-War

Keeping statues up which represent those 11 states which wanted to keep blacks as slaves, only honors them for treason and slave owners and they don't deserve it.

What if the royalist after our revolution from England decided to make statues of England's generals and kings in the place of George Washington? What country honors the opposite side of a war's heroes?
