Yes I am ! Completely blinded by the lights of cars, no depth perception....it's terrible and I don't drive at night if I can help it.
I don't want to scare you but my Mom remembered having some attention issues, feeling off-balance a bit, and some similar behavior to yours shortly before she suffered a stroke. Her doc told her that these may have been EXTREMELY mild strokes that were causing no real damage but a warning sign that she was building up to something more substantial. Luckily she went immediately to the doctor and then unhappy with his response, went to the hospital where she insisted she knew something was wrong. After many tests they discovered her diagnosis was correct.
No-one knows your body better than you. If you think something is off, have it checked out. Even though you have always been clumsy, being moreso now could be a small sign that you are not 100%.

Hm....I've always been ADD. That's not new.
But considering I keep falling down the stairs, I am concerned that something isn't right.
Then again, I wonder if I am just not paying attention to where I am going....
Well, bella, on the night blind bit, I really meant are your eyes slower than other people's to adapt when walking into a dark place? In any case, if you haven't had a eye exam by a ophthamologist it is a good idea to do anyway.

Hm...I don't know...I've never really tried it. I had an eye exam about 8 months ago but I don't know what tests they do other than glaucoma (I wear contacts).
Well, an ophthamologist, being an md, would be aware of other medical causes besides my kind of problem (RP - where they tell by finding, and in my case it took some long looking since the clinic resident doubted I had this problem at first, telltale bits of pigment by bloodvessels in the eye; that, and visual field study for peripheral vision, and, later, darkfield adaptation study, for how fast your rods work in the dark.)
I don't know how they test depth perception, come to think of it.
Do your eyes have different needs in corrective lenses? Sometimes a big difference between them can affect depth perception, I think.
On the peripheral vision - I fall because I have to look down more than other people in order to see around my feet at the same time I look ahead, if you follow me.... there's more head movement necessary, or eyeball movement necessary, for me to see what is around me. I also sometimes bang my head on the car roof getting into the car, misjudging the height. Thwap!
I know my death will be interesting... "Woman Falls Down Open Manhole"..
Contacts are the same for each eye.
can you use either lens for either eye?
ossobuco wrote:can you use either lens for either eye?
Yup. Been that way now for about 2 years. Weird.
Well, that elimates eye difference as a cause..
The more I think about it the more I am convinced that I need to pay more attention....I just got all freaked out about what could have happened this time when I fell. I got really lucky. Again.
Hmmm, maybe it's the stairs' fault. No kidding. My basement stairs have really short treads. One almost has to waddle to get the whole foot on the tread.
You've switched to the hard liquor, haven't you?
And you were doing just fine drinking wine all day.
That's it, exterior sources..
I think I might hit the dr....my foot felt funny so I check it and now my arch is all swollen. I think that if nothing else, I've injured that tendon. And the swelling hasn't gone down. **sigh** Dammit.
And while you're there, talk to him/her about the klutziness. All sorts of things could cause it, really. Some of them are serious, some not. But if it's something that could be fixed, wouldn't that be worth a lot?!

lol
thanks for putting it all back in perspective, Slappy.
