Three Times makes the charm.
Hold your dominion.
Thanks, everyone, for the kind words. I will definately try to "hold my dominion." Noddy, I actually say that to myself now!
I'm gonna try to hit one outta the ol' ballpark!
Hi everybody,
I completely forgot to post anything here last night, I was too excited.
I had the interview yesterday. It was very cool, and very interesting! This is definately the job I want. I really liked the people I met with too.
They have fabulous benefits (and one of the fun perks -- two tickets to every home game!)
I think I have the skills they were looking for. They also want someone who can maintain confidentiality and someone who can deal with all sorts of people; because you might be dealing with a major league player who makes several million a year, or you might be dealing with a minor league guy, who makes no where near that; you may be speaking with a banker who invests a lot of money in the team, or you might be speaking with the groundskeeper. So they want someone who can deal with people at all levels. I think I did a pretty good job convincing them that I have the maturity and professionalism to handle that.
So now....the waiting begins....
Stray Cat--
My fingers are crossed. Hold your dominion.
How very exciting, Stray Cat. I'll cross fingers too.
O.k. The final update. There's good news...and there's bad news.
The bad news is that sadly, I did not get the job with the baseball team.
I know. It was a disappointment. It would have been great. But I still feel pretty honored to have even come that close.
The good news is .....I did get the job with Good Company!! In fact, they offered it to me last week. But I didn't want to say anything until I found out how things would go with the ball team job.
So, I'm still outta my not-so-great job -- and into a much better one!! In fact, I start there next week!
I just want to say, thanks everybody, for all the kind words of encouragement. Just a month ago, I wouldn't have thought I could have had two such great opportunities presented to me. I feel very fortunate to have had one of them offered to me. The pay and benefits will be much better at my new place!
The only sad thing is leaving my co-workers. I really liked them. I just hope I am as lucky at my new place of employment. But I think it'll be fine. Better even.
Now that my saga for the Search For Job Utopia has ended, I hope other people will post here with their stories. Green Witch was right. We need a thread like this, where people can think about making some positive changes in their lives. Taking the bull by the horns, that sort of thing. Because you just don't know until you go for it!
Believe me, I've learned from this experience that anything...well, almost anything...is possible!
I'm jealous. You suck, you bitch...I mean...uh, congratulations! Good luck with the new job! You deserve it!
Why, thanks, my darling angel. (I'll see you on the insult thread!!)
Stray Cat--
Congratulations. Hold your dominion.
Hey, Stray, that's wonderful. Possibly even more wonderful than the team thing, who knows. I am very pleased for you.
On losing old pals, maybe and maybe not. I still am tight with some old pals from different jobs I've had. Not that we've trailed each other around so much as that we keep in touch once in a while, and actually do meet for coffee, and so on. Some of those people are now lifetime real friends, thick and thin. And no, not the whole mass of people I've worked with, but the ones who've stuck have been, as they say, real.
Wonderful news Stray Cat.
OK - who's next? Kicky???
Great news! Congrats, Stray Cat.
Congratulations from me, too!
Thanks, everybody. Thank you very much. (smiling, sending hugs to all of you)
