WHOSE INSURGENCY? (91 percent of suicide bombers are foreigners crossing into Iraq)

Quote:
June 7, 2005 -- ACCORDING to the SITE Institute, a respected counter-terrorism organization, only 9 percent of suicide bombings sponsored in Iraq by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi are conducted by native Iraqis.
Analyzing data from a "martyrs" list posted on a Zarqawi Web site, SITE found that 42 percent of the killers hailed from Saudi Arabia, 12 percent from Syria, 11 percent from Kuwait, with the rest from an assortment of Asian and European nations.
Does the fact that the director of the SITE Institute is an Iraqi have any bearing on these stats?
This is not "new" news. What is the point you are trying to make?
I think it is just a matter of semantics so we will stop calling them insurgency and start calling them terrorist. Putting the terrorist label on people puts a whole new level on them and reduces them to subhuman.
In any event if it is true then it seems to me the answer is simple. We are the targets and if we leave then they will leave Iraq and fewer people in Iraq will get killed. Unless of course they stay out of spite to make sure Iraq is never a success. If that is the case then there will never be an end in sight.
Speaking of subhumans.....
A speech titled "The Return of Ibn Al-'Alqami's Grandchildren" was posted on Islamist message forums by the media division of Al-Qa'ida in Iraq on May 18, 2005. [1] The main point of the speech was to justify collateral killing of Muslims as well as non-combatant non-Muslims, according to Islamic religious norms. The following are excerpts:

The people doing these terrorist acts in Iraq ARE subhuman; labels don't have anything to do with it.
Where are the minutemen when you need 'em.
Are trying to equate the American minutemen to Islamic terrorists again?
So much for the claim that invading Iraq made us safer by reducing the number of terrorists. The report at SITE states
Quote:"What we see here is there are a lot of people who appear to be quite well educated leaving universities, good jobs and families to go to Iraq to fight the jihad," Katz said.
"It means there is huge support for Zarqawi and al Qaeda among the younger generation - particularly in Saudi Arabia - who are going to Iraq not to liberate Iraq, but to engage in the battle between the mujahedeen and the crusaders. This is in Iraq now. But it could be somewhere else tomorrow."

Woah Nelly....
It was a small, and apparently lame, joke.
If the insurgents are not Iraqi or of Iraqi descent, then perhaps minuteman-esque border patrols are in order.
...forget it...

Hey JTT....I see you've resurfaced on this thread and want to play. I've been waiting 5 days for your learned reply on the PBS thread. Wa'sa matta?........You can talk the talk but can't walk the walk?
Bernard Lewis, arguably the best American Professor specializing in the History of Islam has commented that there is indeed a very radical small slice of Islam which is committed to making the Caliphate the primary force in the world--by force if necessary.
If Lewis is correct and if the "imported" insurgents come from the group he identified, then it appears that we, together with moderate Muslims, must work to remove all such fanatics from the face of the earth.
A radical move?
Not when Saudi-Arabian fanatics can cause 9/11's.
