Who Has It Easier, Men or Women?

Reply Mon 6 Jun, 2005 08:18 am
Who do you think has it easier, men or women?

Why?

(There's no "both" or "it depends" cause I want you to have to choose and give reasons. Luckily, there's also no grades being given. Just wondering what people think on this topic.)

I think women have it easier.
We can use our sexuality for 90% of the things we need to do in our lives. Simply because we are women we are sexy.. that sells.. Do it right and the world belongs to you.

Men can not do this as well. Not saying that they CANT do it, just not as well.

I wasn't feeling bad, roger, but thanks, I think.

I have no agenda. It was just a question to see how people look at each gender, who they percieve to have it easier, and why.

Better for men -

They do not have to give birth
They do not have to nurse
They get paid better
They get higher positions
They do not menstruate
It is ok to be bald and fat for a man
It is ok to be gray and get old

Better for Women
They get saved first off sinking ships
They can get away with crying
They can flirt out of a parking ticket
On TV, kids always say - Hi Mom

Overall I think men have it better.

You mean like pat on the butt guy stuff or extra string for the trimmer guy stuff?

Cause if it's the pat on the butt guy stuff, we wimmens do that all the time and just don't tell you.

(That should give ya something to wonder about next time your lady goes out.) Razz

I think women have it better.

Men don't get to give birth.
They don't get to nurse.
They get better jobs, but working's not an option.
They get testosterone poisoning.
They get bald.
They get prostate problems.
They can't express emotions in front of their friends.
They have to live with hormonal women.
They are expected to pay for everything.

Great one, Eva. I agree (even if getting bald is really no big deal).

Men had it easier, but that was before in the richer parts of the Western world (still is in some parts of the world).

And in the near future, the question will be a no contest.

Eva, I think I disagree with you on three of these...

Quote:

Men don't get to give birth

I think most people male or female who have had any part in this process think this is a good thing. I got to catch my daughter and I was completely happy with this level of involvement.

Quote:

They get testosterone poisoning.

Testosterone poisoning? There aint no such thing as too much testosterone!

Quote:

They can't express emotions in front of their friends.

I can express emotions just fine.

I am not ashamed to say that I cried twice in my life. Once when I saw my daughter born, and the first time the Patriots won the Superbowl. The latter was in front of male aquaintances.

Being pregnant and giving birth were exceptional, life-changing experiences for me, ebrown. I wouldn't have traded places with my husband for anything. I think women are enriched psychically and spiritually by knowing they have the ability to give life. It gives them a deeper understanding of humanity and its worth.

If you have ever lived with a 14 year old boy, you must surely understand what testosterone poisoning is. Around puberty, you guys lose the ability to think rationally. At least with women, the hormones fluctuate. We have some good days, some bad. You guys are affected 24/7/365.

All in all, I'll trade you guys baldness for menstruation. At least menstruation ends.

Ah, the Superbowl. I cried for joy, too.
(When it was finally over. The commercials were the best part.)

"Easier" is a very subjective value. Depends on the individual - man or woman.

Shewolfnm:-

I agree with you there providing the prostitute's charter you recommend comes without the slightest tinge of shame. If there was any shame you might become riven with guilt and then you wouldn't be getting what you want because guilt wutherings are harmful.Would you include your passage in a speech at a nice family wedding? It has to be said that it may well prove to be very sound advice to the blushing bride.

Would you be kind enough to provide clarification?

Eve - I disagree with the working is not an option - it is not an option for me and I am a woman. Also in today's society either a man or woman could stay home - it is more a family option for some families where one salary is enough to have a spouse stay home. For example in my family it would never be an option for me to stay home as I make more than double my husband's salary and all benefits are covered under my place of business.

In this same vain - worse for women is that they are often frowned upon if working when they have children and considered bad mothers, when no one ever questions the husband working.

I agree with the birthing and nursing (positives and negatives to both), but I did not want the men to know about the positives - ruins the guilt trip stuff.

Women get bald too - but men can shave their heads and can still be considered sexy, very rare that a bald women is considered sexy.

Men prostate - women all sorts of Gyn issues and breast cancer.
