Space Jam itself is dated due to the fact its plot is tied to Michael Jordan's short lived baseball career and his return to the NBA.

And the Pulp Fiction reference is about the same as the Humphrey Bogart appearance in the older Looney Tunes shorts.

Pulp Fiction was popular around the time Space Jam came out. Bogart was a popular '40s actor. It would make sense for him to appear in '40s Looney Tunes shorts.

I can listen to an old TV show or movie and without watching it know what decade it was made in just be hearing the music they used in it.

You know a TV show is old when they make a reference to some tech that's no longer in popular use or if they reference some old TV show that's no longer on TV.

Except there are films that only use older music or make reference to long forgotten shows.

The new film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood uses a 1960s soundtrack (using popular and forgotten songs) and makes reference to the old shows Lancer, The FBI, The Green Hornet, and films The Wrecking Crew and the Great Escape. The film also featured brands that existed in the time like Pam Am airlines.
