So, anyone know about taxis from airport to airport? I assume they cost lots of money.. but are they any faster even if you do hop a cab?
Yeah, I already checked into the shuttles and car hires, and blah, blah, blah...I'm not worried about it. The worst that can happen is that we miss the flight and get back to New York way late and then I have to call in and tell them that I can't come in to work on Monday...hey, that's not a bad scenario at all, actually...
My parents kind of screwed me last week by telling me they had all their stuff packed perfectly in two carry-on sized bags--I immediately went out and bought an exact-sized carry-on bag and packed all my stuff in it--sixty-five bucks!--but, perfect, now we don't have to wait for our luggage and we'll make it to Heathrow (or is it Gatwick?) no problem--but now tonight they tell me they have more bags that will probably have to be checked--aaah, whatever, I never had any real luggage before this anyway, so it's probably a good thing anyways...
ummm...I have to go pack the last of my things now and oh my god I'm so excited about this trip I have everything taken care of don't I? I don't know, but it's pretty much too late to screw around now anyways--YAY I'M GOING TO ITALY TOMORROW--I can't even wrap my head around that thought I'm such a small town guy--anyway, this is so f*cking cool, I gotta go pack my suitcase!
Brings tears to my eyes and I'm not kidding.
I brought only a carry on for my now famous to myself 29 day trip, but I bought another bag from a street market there later in the trip to haul some stuff back home.
Enough advice spewing, certainly from osso anyway - it's our way of participating. Hugs to Kicky and Kickyparents.
Oh yeah!
Buying a bag in Italy to carry stuff back in - worth the trip to Italy in and of itself.

By the way, the weather in Venice (our first stop) is supposed to be just INCREDIBLY AWESOME (80 degrees for the next few days)...
You are going to have an incredibly awesome time, kix.
(is the camera charged up? do you have the battery? do you have extra memory?)
Yeah, yeah, yeah!!! I bought extra batteries tonight too...just in case.
<Heehee...I just finished a very loud rendition of the original song "I'm going to F*CKING ITALY Tomorrow, Yeehaw!!!" while dancing around in my underwear>
You bought underwear for the trip?
Venice is lovely and this time of year the flies are not too bad.

No, actually I read in one of those Italy "tips" sights that you should bring old underwear with you and then throw it out as you use it so as to give yourself more room in your suitcase for new purchases.
we know "a veddy proper" couple (very british - retired royal military professor) who travel with old underwear and throw it out as they travel. mrs h won't hear of it, when i suggested it, might leave a trail. hbg
Well, I'm far from "veddy proper" and I think it's a great idea!
Hmmm... the hamburgers are secret agents, aren't they??
Looking forward to stories. Hubby's going to Italy in a coupla months for a conference. Maybe still time to piggyback... maybe...
I see it as bring old and wash it in sink, yaaaack, as usual for first week. Throw out daily in second week. Unless you have fourteen bits of old undies. Am I organized, or what?
You'll be too busy buying soccer jerseys, or whatever they call them... (says she who owns six Palio scarves)
Really, Soz???? Wheee!
I'm sorry LoisLane17 isn't around to see you off. She's prolly there herself nosing around various etruscan sites...
Kicky, I just found your thread. This is sooo exciting, knowing how you love Italy and how conscientious you've been with Italian classes. Wow! Take lots of pics and post them soon as possible. And most of all, have the time of your life.
And italians would adore the Sozlet...

Uh, speaking of underwear, consider some sealable plastic bags..
