I ended up with the orange chicken from the local fast Chinese place. It's good but so bad for me. I'll eat better tomorrow, I promise.
Do you have a functioning kitchen now, Swimpy? How is the dish bad for you?
Not completely functioning. I have a microwave and a sink. I was too lazy to cook tonight. Orange chicken, at least the way they make it around here, is bad because it's deep fried.
The last time I was in Swimpy's town I stopped in a restaurant at the bottom of the bluff. I think it was a VFW or an American Legion. Something like that.
Quite a raucous crowd. Lots of screaming and shouting, jostling about. I think there was a wedding going on, or something like that. Too much noise so I left. I think I grabbed a hamburger in McGregor.
We just had Pad Tai from our local Thai Restaurant.
gustav, are you selling brushes from door to door, from
state to state?
I go where the winds carry me.
In answer to littlek's query as to what I had for dinner:
A bowl of wheaties, brown sugar pop tart, and some spicy cheez-its.
You can't beat a nutritious meal, can you!
No wonder you've got wind.
Mmmm, Gus, that sounds grrreat!
It was quite tasty. I'm still munching on the cheez-its.
Whatch out for those cheez-its. they'll repeat on ya.
I can eat anything. I have a cast iron stomach. Yesterday I sprinkled sardines on my pancakes. Then, an ample supply of Vermont maple syrup. Quite delicious.
On that note...
Roast duck with a cherry sauce and green beans with almonds. No wine- we had to stay up to do paperwork.
I'm surprised at so many having wine with dinner. I didn't realize it was such a common thing in the states.
On an Oprah show last week I learned red wine is good for your heart, as is a handful of nuts, greens, red sauce and several other things.
So, in an effort to eat better I pulled the skin off the chicken before I cooked it and only added 1 stick of butter to the mashed potato's.
Could someone pass the wine?
Chicken vegetable soup, Ak-Mak, white cheddar & apples.
Well, I shared an appetizer of polenta with portobello mushroom sauce with Diane, and then I had a whole dish of mussels in white wine and garlicky tomato sauce to myself and followed that with a spinach salad with, yey, real pancetta and red onion. Diane and I had glasses of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo red wine, Diane and Dys had dishes that looked good. We virtuously skipped dessert. Am taking plane rides to California in the morning...
Eating out tonight.
The restaurant has a meatloaf that I like (honest).
Gonna wash it down with a hearty red wine.
