I have noticed recently that when I get particularly cold, the skin under my nails turn blue. Is this normal? Have you ever heard of such a thing? It does go away once I warm them up, but it is really odd.
Your finger tips are literally turning blue with the cold. Your blood circulation must be a bit sluggish.
I wouldn't call this an emergency--particularly since winter is over--but I'd mention the problem to your doctor on your next appointment.
Thanks - actually this happens at my new place of employment. The temperature here is really wierd. One minute it is incredibly cold and later in the day it is hot. It is during those cold spells when my skin under my nails turn blue - yeck.
Then I rub my hands together and rub my nails and the blue goes away.
I looked this information up in my online medical center at work - it sounds a little like Raynaud's phenomenon. Which for the most part is not serious - I will speak with my doctor on this during my next appointment - might as well be careful.
