Now, I want to know why dys would be an acer japonica.
Somebody tell me what it looks like.
Like a shoe, only different.
acer japonica is a broad term refering to japanese maples. You know what a J Maple looks like?
I have one in my new front yard and I love it!! It's BEYOUUUUUUUUUUUTIFUL!
It's kinda short, though.
Yeah, and not very, er, erect.
Japanese Maples are much sought after for that effect ms. K alluded to. They're big on the 'things being stolen from yards around here' list that was in the paper a couple of weeks ago.
They are quite lovely, but I can only assume that no one knows what a zelcova looks like.
Gus, it was supposed to remain between the two of you. For shame.
Japanese maples stand up straight and erect at the most opportune times.
OK, what does a zelcova look like?
I've been looking for a good photo. They are in the elm family, but aren't (as) susceptible to the blight. They are finer than elms, but stately trees. They have motled bark and finely serrated leaves.
And, sometimes they get new growth that kind of shoots beyond the form of the tree, to give it a sort of shaggy look.
There are many many many japanese maples, of different heights, leaf edging, coloration, general presence. One of my thrills moving to north north california is to have more around me (though, no, they're not natives, they sure do well here on the coast.) I heard a story about a zelkova just yesterday, trying to remember it..
At least he isn't a Sisyphus jujuba. (or something like that... no Sunset Western Garden book at hand right now.)
who me?
No, I tain't competing, as if, but I think he meant he and Di are a circle of love.
Gotta admit--I'm in the very BEST company!! Even Gus is included...
In fact, I have a crush on all of you--girls and boys.
What's an animule? Some sort of cartoon ass? Oh wait, I think that's me...
That is the likes of me. Animule, that is me.
I wish somebody had a crush on ME!!!!
