Who was the Captain of the wooden sailing ship "Confection"?

My dear wife gifted me with the Confection for my birthday here in Beijing. I've lived in East Asia long enough and know enough about ship models and sailing history to know that someone screwed up the name. What self-respecting seaman would name a ship after a desert? Seems like it would be bad luck to say the least. Confection may look, to a non-English speaker (who doesn't use our alphabet), a lot like Constitution, for example. We'd likely have a hard time differentiating between slightly dissimilar Chinese ideograms, for example, or even between Korean, Chinese Traditional, Chinese Simplified, or Japanese. Unless, of course, you happen to be a student of those langauges.

Yes, the Confection, sailing on seas of cheese to Rock Candy Mountain by way of the Chocolate River.

And even then people can still confuse desert and dessert.

@bobp,
I too have seen this model and know nothing about it. I will look into it.
