As my guy friend and I were talking, his voice gradually became more quiet and slower. While he was talking slowly, it was like he was taking these pauses in between a few words within each sentence. Why was he doing that?
@kindpiano,
were you having a heated discussion. I tend to do that when I get a bit angry
@farmerman,
It was more of an intimate discussion.
@kindpiano,
There is really no way to know. Sometimes I talk slower when the conversation gets emotional, it takes me a little time to translate emotions into words especially if I am feeling vulnerable... I want to make sure that I express myself carefully.
Why don't you ask him?
Is this the same co-worker you have posted about before?
Depends on what he said. Was it:
“Mess up this report one more time and we’ll need to talk about your job”
Or did he say:
“You can choose the restaurant.”
@kindpiano,
have you ever considered asking the people involved?

@kindpiano,
Probably means nothing at all. Or a myriad of other things. Maybe it means he is tired of talking to you. Maybe he is bored. Or maybe he was having a small stroke. Who knows? Why you have to look for hidden meanings behind everything is beyond me.
