Do you think aluminum materials are commonly used in our daily life?

@farmerman,
pickup truck bodies are slowly and quietly switching to Al , tempered Al (duralum)and Plastic "sammich construction". Ford started it and now the Japanese trucks are following and Chevy will probably come up the rear since they had a dumass anti Al body ad last year and it backfired on em.
Al isnt really that strong unless honeycombed or made with layered corrugation or as duralum. Planes now use a lot of Ti and duralumin.

I think C fibre layer construction will be available for bigger planes shortly

@farmerman,
I have some Al luggage that is indestructible . Ive had it all over the worls for about 30 years and I get it "detailed every 5 years or so" and it looks brand new. epending on what I have on board. I have those platic foam cutouts that hold computer ****, gizmos, my glasses , goggles and safety gear, helmet etc. Wheels detach some of em look like Im in a rock band.

Some employees had one piece lettered with"Im an explosives expert, if you see me running , better follow". I hadda buff it off because the airlines didnt think it was funny
