I don't think it's possible for this thread to be hijacked at this point.

Your right. So far it has contained everything except this recipe for holiday cookies:

So why not now?

I haven't made these yet, but they sound good . . .

Jose Cuervo Tequilla Christmas Cookie Recipe

1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup of brown sugar
2 tsp lemon juice
4 large eggs
1 cup nuts
2 cups of dried fruit
1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequilla

Sample the Cuervo to check quality.

Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo again, to be sure it is of the highest
quality, pour one level cup and drink.

Turn on the electric mixer... Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl

Add one teaspoon of sugar... Beat again.

At this point it's best to make sure the Cuervo is still OK, try another cup
... just in case.

Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in
the cup of dried fruit, Pick the frigging fruit off floor...

Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry
it loose with a drewscriver.

Sample the Cuervo to check for tonsisticity.

Next, sift two cups of salt, or something. Who giveshz a sheet.

Check the Jose Cuervo.

Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon
of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find.

Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.

Don't forget to beat off the turner.

Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the Cose Juervo and make
sure to put the stove in the dishwasher.

Sounds good. Except for straining my nuts. Not a good place for strain, sprain, grain, or brain.

All right now I'll really hijack this thread.

Here's a kick-ass Potato soup.

Potato Soup
6 bacon strips, diced
3 cups peeled potatoes
1 can (14.5 oz.) chicken broth
1 small carrot, grated
½ cup chopped onion
1 TBL dried parsley flakes
½ tsp celery seed
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
3 TBL all-purpose flour
3 cups milk
8 oz. Process American cheese, cubed
2 green onions

On a cold winter day, in a large saucepan, cook bacon until crisp; drain fat.
Add potatoes, broth, carrot, onion, and all spices.
Cover and simmer until potatoes are tender; about 15 minutes.

In a small bowl combine flour and 1 cup of milk; whisk until smooth.
Add to soup along with the remaining 2 cups of milk.
Bring to a boil; let boil for 2 minutes.
Add cheese and stir until melted and soup is heated through.
Garnish with chopped green onions.

Yes it is. Timber successfully diverted attention for a few pages by trying to assert that extinction of species was somehow incompatible with the concept of an omnipotent God.

'Course it isn't and he offered precious little argumentation to back it up. I think he just wanted to stir the pot. While he was doing so, he coulda at least added some of that potato soup. But no go.

Now Xingu we all know that the bacon fat needs to go in the soup. You on some sorta diet or sumpin ?

----------------

All that aside, critters do go extinct as we were talking about previously. Lack of fossil evidence for a species in a given area, or during a certain period of time is no guarantee that they didn't exist then. It simply means we haven't located any fossils that remain (if there are any).

Also many extinct 'species' , especially those that are thought to be 'intermediates' could simply be examples of the offspring from interbreeding two existing species. Maybe they were never a species of their own at all.

Nevertheless I will have to agree with xingu, Dok and timber by saying the god they have described does not exist. Nor is he the God of the bible.

Yes it is true, my arguments are focused on the standard christian position.
Just who is your god, anyway?
Honestly I would really like to know. Just what is your position? Is there any old threads where you have clearly illustrated the mechanics of your theology? If so, point me at it if you wouldn't mind.

Stirring the pot? Yes. However, the point is that the concept of the Abrahamic God is incompatible with logic, reason, and evidence.

The concept of the Abrahamic god, as you have described him, is incompatible also with the scriptures.

I had a fairly strong thread going, Define God, remember? You were a valuable contributor.

I'm formulating a new post to bring the thread back to the present. I hope Wolfie doesn't accuse me of necromancy again Smile

Well, you do know that bringing the dead back to life is against God's will...

Or perhaps they were simply different species all along. Is there really ANY evidence that would eliminate that as a possible conclusion?

real life-yo,
Might I say that, if we can conceive of it, we must be able to prove it, or at least provide evidence for it. Being a few amino acids apart in the genome suggests differentiation, especially if all elese remains the same in the "bar code" Sympatry includes all sort of non geographical means of isolation on the micro scale. Plants that are suited to different soils (like bromiliads on Mt Kilimanjaro) can be seen to genetically differentiate themselves by elevation and climate
